I bought a viper 4115v and installed it into my 97 Jeep Cherokee xj. (Non smart key) I set it up as just a remote start, wired it in, and did a function test before wiring in the tach wire to an injector.
It started just fine, but would shut down. The alternator wasn't outputing.
I disconnected the 6 pin main relay connection and my alternator came back. I double checked the 9pin connectors and am sure that they are right, so I'm assuming that my 6 pin connector is wrong.
I wired it as follows.
The purple start wire to the yellow pin 10,
The orange accessory to the black/orange pin 4
The pink primary ignition to the dark blue pin 9
And the red wires directly to a b+ lug.
Does that sound right?1997 Jeep Cherokee, Viper 4115v -- posted image.

Going strictly off the picture you posted, it looks like the other ignition (pin 8) also needs to be powered. You can connect this to the Viper pink/white which is ignition2 by default.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Thanks, I will try to do that tonight.
It's just confusing that it would still happen with power and ground disconnected
