Avital 5305L Alarm Install, 1997 Toyota Camry

im trying to install an alarm on a 1997 camry. so far this is what i have hooked up and the alarm is not working. -12v constant -ground wire -door trigger -siren wire do i need to hook up the ignition input/output wire? and do i need to hook up the starter kill wires?

I assume you mean the alarm is not set off when you open the door without disarming. You could be using the wrong wire in the Camry. Did you test and verify with a multimeter? Also the Avital has 2 different wires for door trigger- one is a negative input, one is a positive input. If you want the alarm to trigger while armed if the ignition is turned on (or you need to do any programming without a bitwriter/XKLoader3, you must connect ignition. Starter kill is optional.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

For your car, the wires you are looking for are the actual Passenger Door key cylinder wires. They are shown below and listed as basic Type B wires. As such you will setup your Digital Multi Meter to 20V DC range, connect the Red test lead to a known +12V constant vehicle power source and the Black test lead to the suspect wire. Following Note 5 below, place the key in the Passenger Door key cylinder and rotate the key to the desired Lock or Unlock position. The DMM will go to +12V DC when the correct wire is under test. So for the Lock wire, connect the DMM Black lead to the Dark Blue/White 18 gauge wire in the Orange plug at the bottom of the Fuse Box. Insert the key into the Passenger door and rotate it to the Lock position. The DMM will go to +12V DC. If there are multiple Dark Blue/White wires in that Orange plug, test each one until you find the one that responds to the key rotation. Testing the wrong wire with a DMM will not cause any problems. POWER LOCK          DARK BLUE/WHITE (TYPE B), See NOTE #5       @ ORANGE PLUG, BOTTOM of FUSEBOX POWER UNLOCK        DARK BLUE (TYPE B), See NOTE #5             @ ORANGE PLUG, BOTTOM of FUSEBOX NOTE #5: the LOCK and UNLOCK wires are 18 gauge, and WILL ONLY TEST while turning the Key in the PASSENGER DOOR KEY CYLINDER, they will not TEST when using the POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH.Soldering is fun!
