Smart Start VSM-550 to Viper 5904

Hey guys, I have a viper 5904 remote start that I', trying to connect a Smart Start VSM-550 to. I've tried every possible connection type, and the best I can get is for the remote start and locks to work, but I can't get the realtime status to show up at the bottom of the app. I have the highest plan for 30 days, so the cabin temp, runtime extend, etc. should all be available. The way it is currently connected that allows starting, and lock controls to work is to have the white D2D and black ESP connected. As soon as I ground the grey programming wire and reset it, the green light will not come on anymore, and nothing works. I've also tried just the black ESP and connecting the power and ground. That worked the same way. Once I connect the grey wire, it stops communicating. I've tried grounding the white programming wire, grey, and both, but nothing will work. Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
