hi, I'm trying to install an remote auto start to Chevy Prizm Lsi 1998. In the diagram that i get from the product, there is one Coil says "High Voltage Coil", and it also says "Wind around the coil for at least 5 circles) for the kill relay.

Where can I find the coil, and which part of the coil should i wind the wire to?

thanks a lot

dan

hi, I'm trying to install remote start to Chevy Prizm 1998, but I don't undertand about the Starter kill. I also include the picture from the diagram. which one is the tachometer wire? the starter kill relay output or starter sensing input? and this two wire like shown in the diagram attach to two different place of the coil. And I try to find the wiring diagram from the car, it only tell the tach wire. So what kind of wire is the buttom of the coil and what kind of wire is the one that has to be winded at least 5 circle, and I don't understand where should i wind the wire too.

Please help If anybody know about this diagram. What happen if I didn't connect the starter kill, can i still start the car with remote? what about others thing like alarm, turn on the heater and everything?

thank you very much

dan

that diagram os confusing and i have been doing this for years... here is how to do a starter kill... take the trigger from the alarm and connect it to pin 86 take pin 85 to ignition 1 (hot in the crank) cut the starter wire and put one end to 87a and one end to pin 30. it does not matter which cause it is basically only a switch. there are a few ways to wire a starter killl but this is probably going to be the easiest for you. As for your tach signal go to a coil pack if you can. check the vehicle wiring section of the site for other tach wires. hope this helps

Find the distributor cap, the round thing with all the spark plug wires coming out of it, that's where the distributor is...
If not, find the coil, it's the thing that has 1 spark plug wire going into it, the wire comes from the distributor cap...
If not, get the wire at a fuel injector, on the injectors there will be 2 wires, 1 wire color will be the same on all of the injectors, the other wire color will vary from injector to injector, hook up the tach to a wire that varies in color...
Test for the tach at coil or distributor, place red lead of multimeter on wire, black lead to ground, set meter to read AC voltage, start the car, should read from 1-6V, rev the engine, voltage will go up, that will be the wire u need...

as a last resort you can run it tachless... just switch it in the menu the prism cranks slow so you won't get too much over crank but like i said it is a LAST RESORT!!!!!!

It's a black wire on the ecm located behind the center console. Remember, always double check before making final connection. I hope that helps.
