i recently purchased a " The Guardian Two Way Car Alarm with LCD and Remote Start" you can see it at http://www.alarmacar.net/customer/product.php?productid=16141&cat=249&page=1.  i will be installing it in my 2001 tacoma.  i have never put in a car alarm but i am very mechanical, and about to find out how i fare at electrical.  i've done many a car stereo but never an alarm.  any helps tips would be appreciated, also if there is a wiring diagram out there for an 01 tacoma i would appreciate that.  thank you all for your time

Hey Bill, if it's just an alarm system installation, the whole process is very simple. Just locate the proper wires and hook them up to the wires on the alarm system. The most important part of the installation is to make your wires look OEM and also to hide all the components of the alarm so that someone can not see the aftermarket installation.

Leave the factory alarm in the vehicle as you can just not use the OEM remote at all and it will not engage the system. The wiring is the same for the 2001 as it is for the 2000.
