Older DEI Python remote start alarm

I have a DEI Python remote start alarm that's about 4 years old (not sure of the model #) and i'm having trouble altering the alarm settings.  What i'm trying to do is set it up so that when i activate the remote start that the parking lights stay constant and don't flash.  Here's the steps that I've tried and maybe someone can tell me what i'm doing wrong, or not doing at all.

First I turn the ignition on, then off.  I know that the parking lights feature is in menu 3, option 4.  So i push and hold the valet switch until i'm in the third menu.  I hit the valet switch 4 times, then a fifth and hold it to gain access to the 4th feature of that menu.  Then I press the unlock button (button 2 right?) on my remote to set the parking lights to stay constant when in remote start mode but nothing happens.  No confirmation chirps from the alarm or blinks from the LED.  After about 10-15 seconds the alarm chirps and exits programming mode.

What am I doing wrong, or what am I missing here?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Only things on the back of the remote are DEI, some 1-800 number, 2-66 rolling codes, and a FCC ID #.  The alarm is buried in the dash... not easy to get to.

All the steps you are going through are correct to get to the settings - I think with the older models, the remotes have to go through a learn routine but I can't remember how. I used to own one of the DEI Python alarms.

Does your alarm respond with the remote to other functions like arm and disarm?

I figured out what i was doing wrong, and as i suspected it was a simple little thing i overlooked.  Apparently I wasn't holding down the valet switch [b]while[/b] pressing the button on the remote to switch between the settings.  Doh!!
