Hello,

I just bought a 99 sunfire and i'm having some issues with the alarm in it.  i'm not even sure if it's a stock alarm, or an aftermarket.  basically, i just want to make it so it doesn't make a noise when i engage and disengage, i just want the lights to flash, because it's incredibly  loud.  Does anyone know how i could go about finding out what kind of alarm i have, so i could get a manual, or better yet, is there a universal way to turn the speaker off for the alarm.   any help is appreciated.

Well the easiest way to tell ifit is aftermarket or stock is the noise, either the horn will honk or a siren will sound. If it is a siren then it is aftermarket, if it is the horn then it could be either. In order to find out what kind of alarm it is just look under the driver's side dash and you should be able to find the control module. We will need to know what kind of alarm it is in order to tell you how to turn the arm/disarm chirps off.

thanks for the help.

It's definitly a siren, so that means it's most likely aftermarket.  When i look under the dash, i see an on/off switch, that doesn't seem to do anything, and a blk box that looks like a motion sensor because when i make noise, a green and red light blink on it.  will it say right on the sensor what make/manufacturer it is?  what does a control module usually look like?

i was just told by the previous owner that it's a "Nortic Start" 4000 series.  Does that help?
