when programming the bypass does the ground when starting wire have to be grounded. also is it ok for the power to be disconnected after programming,without doing the programming again?

Any one have some advice because i cant get this bypass to work? What security light is supposed to go on after the pku-mit programming?

No, all you need to have is the 12 volts going to it.   Once you have it programmed, you can disconnect the power and not need to reprogram it.
