Just curious on the actualy brand Autostart ( autostartusa.com ) Are these units pretty good? They offer the same lifetime warrantee as many other brands. They don't have the range of compustar's but they are pretty similar otherwise.

The Autostart brand in my opion are second to none, I have been installing these for four years, and I haven't had a problem yet.....              Craig...

I have to argue that Craig. I sold ( and currently selling ) the Auto Start and last year I had 4 units come back because the customer's vehicle didn't want to shut off with the key after remote starting the car. Only way to shut down the car was to remove the battery post. Also, they have had troubles with their ground when running wire & they have had problems with their 2 way systems. I haven't been very impressed with their products since I have installed them, but they are a good entry level product. This is my opinion and my experiences with this so please do not think that this is what ALL Auto Start products are like. I have had quite a few good units leave the shop.

They were the best in my opinion unitil last year when I had three serious comeback. I only had problem with the two way. No come back at all on the less expensive model.
Jeff,
I have the same issue like you. Last year I got three vehicle that wouldn't shut off with the keys after remote starting. One of these unit that fail, my customer were vacationing in New York City.   I can assure you that he was not very impressed with that. Overall, I still think there quality is still very close to Compustar.

i've also had some Autostart units "hang up" and not shut the car off.... i also hate how time consuming and tedious the programming is for these units...it takes me 10-15 minutes to program an AutoStart unit, 2 minutes to program a DEI unit....    and remember, in this biz.... time is money !!

We've used Autostarts for years, yes, they have some problems with the two way units last year.  There dealer support in quite good, they fax notification of problems and solutions to us  More then 5 min to program, are you guys having 3 or 4 coffees while doing it.

No matter what product you use your bound to have some problems.

Nothing beats the last radio of a certain model that a customer Must have, And something on it doesnt work, And your rep told you Yea they shipped only to call in and find out a eta and get told there on Back order.

thats why i love this business.

One thing I noticed about the Autostart Brand is that there outputs for trunk and what not are 500 mA rather then 250 on other similar units? Would this possibly give enough extra power to use less relays in some situations?
