You can hook up as many LED as heart desired if you run a relay to power them up. The only caution you have to take is to make sure that the LED you are using is rated for 12V as some LED that comes with the alarm unit can only handle 3 to 4 volts. If you connect them to a 12V power supply you will end up burning them. Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.
