i buoght a remote start/ alarm but didnt hook up the remote start part of cuz i dont need it. my problem is that the alarm will only arm and disarm when the module has the truck "on". once the lcd screen says the car is "off "i can only unlock it and it will not arm it automatically goes to disarm and it dont even chirp

what do yall think the problem is?

well you have to read the manual you have to program the brain to lock it self plus check this

Door Trigger	BLACK / YELLOW(D), BLACK/ pink(P)	-	each kick, door harness
Notes: The BLACK / YELLOW catches the driver door and the BLACK/ pink catches the passenger door. Use both wires and diode isolate each. See DirectFax document 1076 for wiring information. Both wires may also be found at the GEM module located above the fuse box. On models without a dome light delay use ORANGE / lt. green (-) at the headlight switch.

Power Lock	pink / YELLOW		passenger kick panel
Notes: Negative pulse, type B, on keyless entry models. Five wire, type C, on non-keyless models, mastered from the driver switch.
Power Unlock	pink/green		passenger kick panel
Notes: Negative pulse, type B, on keyless entry models. Five wire, type C, on non-keyless models, mastered from the driver switch.
Lock Motor	pink/black	5wi	driver kick panel
Unlock Motor	RED / orange	5wi	driver kick panel

so check the conections and make sure you program the brain
