I'm looking at getting either a Viper 790xv, Python 880xp, or a Clifford Matrix RS3. One of the new DEI Responder systems. Is there any difference at all between them? I want a good price, but am also worried about warranty. I will probably have it professionally installed though. I can get the Python for $300 plus shipping. Any suggestions or advice where can I can get one of these for cheap? Would it be better to just buy it from an authorized dealer with the installed price, to get full warranty on the system and the installation ? How much does only install typically run if I bring in the alarm? Also is there any difference at all in features or anything else with the Viper, Python, and Clifford versions ? How do they compare to the Viper 900esp and the other high end DEI alarms ? I bascially want the best alarm with remote start and the most features like window roll-up etc, I can get for around $500 or less installed, with the new Responder remote. But if theres any way I could get it for closer to $300 installed I would be much happier. Which one should I get or would you recomend?

Thanks!

They are all made by the same company now. As far as instal price goes it all depends on how drastic you want to go with the alarm, such as features and so on, price wise it can go anywhere from $50 and up to and about $150 possibly more. Guarantee wise D.E.I. products are valid only through authorized dealers only. Hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for the quick response. I know they are all made by the same company, but I was wondering if all three models have the same features, and if not, what are the differences? And if any one of them is better or would be reccomended over the other for any reason?

I would be willing to pay whatever it is to get it installed properly at an authorized dealer, I'm just trying to find out if I should just buy it from the dealer and get it at the installed price, or try to find it somewhere cheaper and get it installed at the dealer. If I did this, bought it somewhere else and had it installed at an authorized dealer, would I still have all the warranty options? Or at least still have warranty on the installation ? What would you reccomend?

And also how do these compare to the other high-end DEI alarms? I want the best alarm, with remote start, and most of the features possible.

And any suggestions as to what would be the best deal/thing for me to go with? Or where I could find one of them cheap? Thanks!

I would ask the second dealer that you are bringing it to if they install outside products. Then call the D.E.I. number and ask them if the warranty would carry over to another install bay and if indeed they are authorized. Me personally if you want it done right get it done where it is sold at. D.E.I. go through alot of requirements in oreder for them to sell and more intense on installing there product correct and neat. As far as features I could not tell you at this time what exact features one has over the other. Some of the higher end models will have extra channels on it over the others. I will check around now and see what I could find and let you know.

I think they are all exactly the same alarm.

And I had been planning to buy it online, and then have it installed at an authorized dealer. Either that, or just buy it at the dealer and have it installed there (more expensive, probably).

I would also probably want to add a whole bunch of stuff to it, like windows, sunroof, proximity, glass break, back battery, etc.

I was wondering if anyone here might be a DEI distributor or have a connection with someone and might be able to get it cheap? That would be awesome..............

Viper 790vx,Phyton 880xp, there are the same also is exactly the same with Viper 550,or Phyton 1500,same features, same programin, same place to plug the harnnes.. etc.

The only different is the antenna this one have 4 wires instead of 3 and the Remote.also in the installation manual doen't show the diagram how to use relay when you need it,but the viper 550 and phyton 1500 does.

If you already have a viper 550 or Phyton 1500 what you have to do is swap all the harnnes and run the new antenna. That's it.

I work myself doing installation and I already installed like 5 of this alarm.

(I get these alarm from a friend how own a shop and he give me whosale prices)so I sell this alarm for like $400 or $450 but with almost all the extras incluided!

Buying it with installation from a dealer is inevitably cheaper than trying to find it somewhere else.  The store I work at sells Viper 790XVs installed for $470, of which over $200 is labor, and you generally can't buy high-end DEI products without installation.

Thanks for all the replies and feedback. I now realize that it is not going to be cheap if I want it done right and installed properly. I've decided that I will both buy and have it installed by a professional and authorized dealer, and get the DEI warranty, even if it means shelling out some serious cash.
I checked out the local Circuit City, they said $470 installed for the Viper 790xv alarm itself, but they would match any advertised price of any shop. What is the cheapest anyone has seen this for, and can you show me the advertised price please?
Also would you guys reccomend Circuit City or not? They are supposed to be MECP certified installers, I believe.........but when I inquired about all the extra add-on modules I wanted they said that they've only ever had 1 car that wanted to have all that stuff installed in. I was thinking about getting remote windows, sunroof, audio system, proximity sensor, voice mod, glass sensor, backup batt, extra sirens, piezo sirens, etc, hoodlock, starter kill, maybe fuel pump kill, and brain installed in an extremely hidden and hard to find location. I am still trying to figure out everything I want. I also found an authorized DEI dealer who is selling most of these sensors and modules new with warranty for pretty cheap, so I will probably be getting most of the add-on stuff through him.
Would you guys reccomend Circuit City for this type of installation, or should I try a custom car audio shop?
Also I would like to know if I just got the basic alarm at first, and decided to add on all the extra stuff later...........would that be more expensive than just getting it all together, or would they both be the same ? What would be easier, cheaper, and more practical? I think it would be easier for me to add on all the extra stuff later, becuase I wouldn't have to spend so much money all at once...what would you reccomend?
I also would like some advice on how to have it installed properly so it will provide the best security..........any special ways of doing something, tips, things to add, etc.
Please give any suggestions, advice, comments.
Thanks!

Well , if you are going to buy it installed ..... no tips , the guys installing it will know what is best :)

As for buying the extra stuff later ..you have to think that it will also cost you to install them at that time , and I think it has to be the same guy who installed the alarm , he will know all the wires he installed and all that. I think no other installer will continue the job since it wasn't him starting the installation , or if he would will be more expensive.

I wouldn't continue somebody's else job so cheap.
So I guess will be more expensive to buy and install the extra things later. The price for the accessories will be the same now or later but the installation might not have the same price.
