I have a mitsi legnum 1997 (Japanese) right hand drive, and am trying to install a car alarm with central locking/unlocking device. Is the wiring the same as the 1996 Galant or if not,, does anyone have a copy of a wiring guide?

Need esp - door lock and unlock appears to be purple + light GREEN/ red, but these have approx 3.5 v each, and an earth triggers the relay but does not lock or unlock the doors. Do we need a motor? Car does have a central locking device that works off the drivers side.

Having trouble with access points for permanent 12V for unit. Do have 12V off back of stereo...wires may be too light. Any ideas...???

Take the 12V off the ignition harness,

I can't find anything on that model only the galant mabe someone else can.

any of the mitsubishi's i've seen including my own Lancer Mivec '99. all have had negative door locks

straight forward enough depending on teh alarm shouldn't need to change polarity. just connect to the lock and unlock wires. usually found in drivers kick panel

Thats really good, but do need a confirmation of whether a 1996 Galant wiring system is the same as the 1997 Legnum STR. There's so many colours, and the door lock and motor are separate.

Cheers tho.

in your position i would take the dor card off and get the right colours there. some of the diagrams to be wrong colours. i wouldn't trust them 100%even if i have one for the exact car i always test wires..
take 10 mins to take the door card off find the wires and using a solid ground test which is lock and unlock..

Have taken the door off, and the wires off the steering column to get a constant 12 V. That's all good.

Have lock unlock - purple+lt. GREEN/ red.

However, has a separate motor to actually unlock the central locking. Seems that it needs a separate motor or something enough to trigger the doors to unlock, as the output on these wires is only approx. 3.5 V each.

Thanks for the link.

When I test the wires with a 12 V ground, they make the noise of unlocking the doors, but don't actually lock or unlock them.

There are four wires - lock/unlock - purple+lt. GREEN/ red.

then think there must be separate wires for the lock/unlock motor.

Not sure of the colours of these.
