I have a 96 Rover 620ti. I had one key and remote and I recently lost them. I have since bought a Key kit from a rover dealer which included an immobiliser, red key and 2 black keys for £280. When I connected the immobiliser box and put in the red key the car seemed to go into learning mode, I then programmed the 2 black keys. I can go to a Rover dealer 50 miles away to get this programmed properly but I have to arrange to get the car towed there and basically my money and patience are both diminishing as this goes on.
Anyway at the minute the engine turns over but will not start. In fact it actually starts for about half a second then immediately dies.
Do you know how I would get around the immobiliser without making the treck to the Rover dealer?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

my mate has a ti 96 too and is having a few mad problems with the car..

by the sounds of it it could be the fule punp thats immobilised.  the main alarm unit is in the rear drivers quatre panel. in the boot..

you can bypass it there i presume but i don't have the colours..

check the alarm and if its a valeo brain. i'll ask my mate if he found out what the immobiliser was because. he wanted to bypass it too

my mate said its the starter thats immobilised on the ti..

recheck alarm and fuel pump fuses.

also if you fold forward the drivers side rear seat. you can see the connector for the fuel pump there. recheck that i suppose..

after that i'm not sure..  I presume the car was in perfect running order before this

Yeah it was so I don't think there is anything actually broken. It is booked into a Rover dealer in the morning and they are going to hook it up and program the new immobiliser and keys so hopefully my car will at last be on the road again. Will let you know how I get on.

Derry. Your right about the ti's though. I needed an engine when I bought the car last year and searched everywhere from Fermanagh, Donegal, Tyrone and Derry and couldn't get my hands on one. Finally picked one up in England!
Got the car sorted today so thanks for your help. The Rover dealer fixed it in minutes and had his hand out for 60 pounds, about 90 euros your side of the border. Glad I'm back on the road though.
