Hello buddies, well im here because i am in desperate help assistance.  i am workin on a remote start for a 2001 pontiac grand am. i pretty much completed the system.  now the problem is that when i test the alarm for the remote start the car turns on but immediately turns off again.  can someone give me a wiring diagram for the tach maybe thats the problem.  the tach i am using right now is a white wire located on the  electronic control module.  thank you for your time.   Jose.

make sure you have the 2nd ignition wire powered up, its a dark green wire. also, is the car shutting down, or is the remote starting shutting down first? there is a difference.if its a pk2 problem your security light will be coming on the dash. i always use the PURPLE / white in the main harness going through the firewall (saves you the trouble of having to run a tach wire into the engine bay at all !)

Hey guys ,mo12v,mxxmikexx,kgerry thanks alot for the tips they are great helpful tips.  Now, i forgot to point out a few things.  k, i am using a 555L bypass module for the security so thats fine i was able to bypass the security of the car.  The first time i worked this car i did used the PURPLE / white wire for the tach (didnt work), then i used the white wire coming from the ecm and again freaking thing didnt work.  also i notice that the power, ignition, starter wires, i noticed that i have to take the radio of to reach to them. cant i just get them from underneath the dash by the ecm?. thanks guys .

ohh mxxmikexx, the remote starting is succesfull , the car keeps shutting down as soon as it turns on. thanks guys .  if you would like to contact me, you can call me at (909) 992-8412

Pull the cluster... for the 6 screws it takes to do it (2 phillips on the bezel, 4 7mm on cluster itself, then pull radio trim, 2 10mm for key assembly) You can sit in the driver's seat, and comfortably wire everything aside from the brake wire and the doorlocks.
it can be done through radio opening, but I dunno about you, if your hands are the size of a 6yr olds or not, but I can't get mine in there and still be able to do something.
