Hi all,
Great forum. I have been reading through all the post before I decided to have a remote start installed. In fact this forum is why I decide to have a reputable installer install my remote starter. I went to pick up my Murano today and they told me they were having trouble. They are installing an Astrostart 903 in my car (2003 Nissan Murano). Apparently, on the first try the starter will crank, but the car will not start (sounds like a security issue). Then the system tries for a second time and starts fine and runs. It always works on the second try, but will not work the first time you intitiate a remote start. Anybody have any ideas?    I let them have the car for another day, because I don't want them to be rushed. According to the owner they have almost 8 hours in this install. Any help would be appreciated, they have been in contact with Astroflex about the issue. I thought this was going to be a real easy install..... Thanks in advance guys.

Also, the owner told me they already tried swapping out the Astrostart unit..Does Astroflex make their own immobilizer bypass module? I am a biomedical electronics technician by trade and always troubleshooting at work, so I have all kinds of possible causes running through my head right now. I love this stuff.......just not real happy the problem is with my car. I'm looking forward to your comments.

This vehicle has 2 starter wires....they need to BOTH be used...just pokin at anything here. Did astro tell them to replace the unit? or is this the installers idea? Are they using the correct ground while running P2-6  They can also program one of the outputs (P2 13 thru 16) for GWR and try it instead of the pin 6. Just a thought...also I have had a cut2 module be bad out of the box....I would replace that as well. If thats what they are useing

They did not say if replacing the unit was Astroflex's idea. I was aware that this nissan had 2 ignition wires. I guess the weird thing is, if the problem was with the wiring it wouldn't work on the second try. They did not day which bypass they were using. Thanks for the comments keep them coming. When they resolve the issue I will be sure to post the results. Hopefully this will help someone with a similar problem. It seems to me the bypass module would be the likely cause of the problem. Does the BCM need to see the key for a certain amount of time before starting? Is this even adjustable?

The astro GWR is "energized" one secon BEFORE start, and stays on for one second after shutdown.....its not adjustable

The vehicle has 2 acss. wires and 2 starter wires. 1 IGN wire

Well, I got the call this morning. They had it working last night. Apparently the location Astroflex told them to get the tach signal was too weak. They picked up the tach signal directly from the coil and all is well. Thanks for the comments.

Does anyone know how to set the runtime on and Autostart 903. The installer did not give me an installation manual.   When I picked up my car they said it was set to 18 minutes. My car only runs for about 5 before shutting off. This will be the 3rd time I would have to take the car back because of installation errors and lack of an attention to detail. I'm positive I could have done a better job than this "professional shop". Any help on the programming would be great. I've heard they can be programmed via DIP switches. Thanks guys.
