I've found conflicting wiring info for a 2002 Acura TL on this site (i'm really installing in a 2003 but 2002/2003 should be the same - i hope):

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=57519&KW

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=25013&KW

and in my Helm manual - bible for the car.

In particular the Accessories, and Ignition differ from the above links, and neither match the Helms manual. This is what I've got:

Desc..................Wire color Topic 57519.........Topic 25013..................Helms manual

Accessory...................yellow...........yellow.........wht/blk

Accessory2................WHITE/ blk...........n/a.............n/a

Ignition1......................BLACK / YELLOW...........BLACK / YELLOW............blk / YELLOW

Ignition2....................n/a......................WHITE/ black....................yellow

Can the accessory and ignition wires be swapped and remote start still work?  I'm leaning towards the Helms info, and if that fails I'll try the others..... I'm sure I'll figure it out when I'm under the dashboard but if anyone has a clue I'd greatly appreciate it. Also I've heard routing the disable wire thru the driver door is a pain. Any slick method to make this procedure easier? Wire grease?

As a side note where exactly is the "OEM alarm disarm" . One post says driver door, the other say secruity module under passenger seat, and I think the helms shows a blue disarm in the mux unit in the door.

Thanks in advance.

NO! If apply the same method on other car you will get more lights lit up than your Christmas tree at home. So test your wire and do more reading first! To me it seem like you don't understand how to differentiate the difference between the two wire. Anyway, this is how.
You don't have second ignition, only SECOND ACCESSORY.

You don't have to do any of that.
Connect your arm and lock wire together from your aftermarket unit and tap it in to the factory lock wire. Connect your disarm and unlock wire together from your aftermarket unit and connect that to the factory unlock wire. You are done.
Factory Alarm Arm arms with lock
Power Lock BLACK/ blue   -   passenger fuse box
ACURA, TL, 2003, Power Lock

ACCESSORY
This wire will test with the key switch in the accessory and run position, but never in the start position. Some cars do not have an accessory wire.
SECOND ACCESSORY
Test in the same fashion as the main accessory wire.

Thepencil,
Wow. That clears things up greatly for me. I know how important getting correct wiring info is and such. I've done 2 or so alarms and 1 remote start in the past. I really appreciate your time - in turn saving me from time, frustration, and possibly damage to the starter and more importantly the car.
Connecting the disarm/unlock to the unlock on the unit was most helpful, I didn't understand from just reading other posts.
Do you have paypal? I'll like to send you a few pennies your direction.
I bought the Valet DEI 561R(?) and have the 556hw on order. Does DEI offer support on their web site? Seems I can never register.
Thanks again. And PM me your paypal.

I am glad that I was able to help you out. Nothing is more easier to do when you fully understand the ideas behind something. My suggestion to the weekend installer and DIY is that make sure you find all the necessary wire require for the remote starter first before ever making a single connection to the vehicle. Trust me on this! You will thank me later.
For DEI support, you won't have any unless this is your fully time hobby. This is probably one of the best place if you ever get stuck and need help.
This maybe of use to you.

Okay, install is going slowwww - 14hrs so far and thats just the remote starter and relay for trunk (soldered all connection except the crimpped ones for the relay). Any suggestion on gettting thru the firewall for the tach sensor? Right now I skipped that and using the voltage sense and it starts fine (with the key in the ignition).

Working on the anti-grind relay and immobilizer now.

Using the wiring thepencil sugessted and didn't fry the car. :-)

Thanks.

Well the install is all done, probably 20hrs of work. Not sure it was worth it. Immobizer 556h installed great and even got the anti-grind relay working. Tweaked crank time to 1.2 sec and the motor starts fine w/ a little extra. Didn't get the tach wire installed, need a right angle drill to do the job right. Wasn't documented anywhere but anyone wondering, used the Orange "200ma accessory turn on" to wire to the immobizer.
