98 Accord Remote Start Transponder bypass

Hi All,

Looking for help on defeating the Honda transponder start disable on a '98 Accord DX.  Put a Bulldog remote start in the car but of course the car uses the factory key transponder to keep it from starting.  System works ok with the key in the ignition so I know the whole remote system works fine.  What I want to do is completely disable this system.  NOT concerned about theft (if they want this winter beater they can have it).  I have no interest in buying a $60 key from the dealer... I just want to disable the whole system not start buying more parts and or keys.  Is it do-able?  I only have one key now so putting my spare under the dash with a relay and wire coil isn't going to cut it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies and options.  This was exactly what I was looking for... some options.  Yes, there is a keyless by-pass available for $35 (which I picked up last night by the way).  Seemed like the easiest way to go... short of cutting the head off of a key and stashing it by the antenna ring near the locking cylinder.... but since I don't have any spare keys (and a programmed key from Honda is more $$ than the by-pass module) I decided to go with the module.

Can I ask one more question now?  The module needs to be cut into the wiring to the ECM.  Can anyone tell me where I find the Ground, Synchro, Data wires in the Accord?  When I pulled the column covers last, the module at the cylinder itself only has two wires.  I think they may be blue and red (I would have to check again) so those may be the Sync and Data pair but the ground?  Is it an isolated ground to the ECM or is it just a generic (-) chassis ground that I can pick up anywhere?  If that is the case then this is dead simple...

In my previous post I was hoping that this unit was completely defeatable by cutting the signal wire to the ECM and just soldering in a given resistance value or something like that... but I guess that is not the case.  Too bad.  I have to laugh at stuff like this which manufacturers install as "theft deterrance".  What a farce, nobody steals a car with a key.  If they want your car it is GONE in 60 seconds regardless of what "security" is on it.  A tilt bed tow truck can steal a whole car in seconds and nobody gives it a second glance!  Heck, they will take it from  your driveway and  your neighbour will help them and not know it!  LOL... they pop a fake magnetic sign on the side of the tow truck saying AAA and nobody gives it a second glance.
