i installed a Clifford Matrix RS3 in my 04 TrailBlazer...I used the DEI 457GW bypass for the locks and the R/S...
the doors lock and unlock fine, but there are some other things i noticed wrong with the functioning...
1. R/S will not Activate, the alarm is a 2 way system, i had it installed in my Mercedes prior to the TrailBlazer and whenever i hit the Lock + Unlock buttons together, the remote itself would chirp and indicate that the remote start had been activated. it will not do this in the TB nor does the system actually try to start the car...does the 457GW need the R/S programmed as it needed the locks programmed?
2. the dome lights do NOT come on when i unlock the alarm, it did in my old car...however, when i LOCK the car, the light comes on for a second and then turns off...
3. the SECURITY light in the TB's Instument cluster is on ALL the time...well, maybe not ALL of the time, it is not on if the car is off and the alarm is not locked...however, even with the car running and me driving around, that light is on...
has anyone encounterred these problems? luckily, the 457GW does lock the rear latch, i had read some threads were it would not always lock the latch...believe it was mostly in the 02 models though...
thanks...

i assume that this is the only bypass peice you are using...because it is all you need.

this product has a learn routine...unplug the 457 ...hold the micro switch while plugging in ...do not release...turn the key on but do not start...when the led on the 457 starts to blink...release and start the car.

that is the learn routine.  that should do it.   however i just replaced on in a customers car that was malfunctioning

1. You need to program the 457G to learn the Passlock code on the TB. Also, make sure that the ground when running wire is hooked up to teh 457G otherwise it will not know when to turn on when remote started.
2. There might be a program option in the 457G that allows you to change the duration of the dome light. Obviously you hooked up the door trigger to the 457G, right ?
3. If you have the SECURITY light on it's because the status output/ground when running wire is not operating the 457G properly or the Clifford unit is not sending out a proper ground signal to the bypass module. Where did you ground the Clifford and the 457G module?

Jeff, thank you, i think i may have chosen a bad ground for the system. now that i am thinking back, i remember a similar problem in the past where the system was not grounded well...
the problem with the dome light is not duration, it comes on when i arm the alarm, not when i disarm...which is what i want it to do...i have the Grey/black wire from the 457gw hooked up to the grey/black wire on the front driver dome light assembly...which is what a DEI certified installer told me to do...
thanks...

Check the features on the r/s itself. There may be a programming feature for it. I know most dei's have that option. It might have forgotten it when you took it out.

Do what I did. Go to circuit city and buy a new 457g module. Come home and unplug yours and plug in the new one while holding down the learn button on the 457g then turn the key to on. See if it works. I got a 457g on ebay for $5 brand new. It was a DUD. Did the circuit city thing and whala, it worked. These modules seem to be hit and miss for a functioning one.

The dome light problem has to be a programming issue since your domelights work with the lock. I would definetly check your install manual. With the car not starting i would also check the 457g. I've seen some wierd problems with those. For the security light try unplugging the negative terminal on the battery for ten minutes and see if it dissapears.
