Could someone tell me how to program a new remote to clifford rsx 3.5?

open  the drivers door, put the key in and turn it to ign, press the programming switch once, then press it again and hold it in... the LED should flash once... then press the lock button once, then a second time to confirm... and presto you just auto-learned a new remote.....

the led does not flash, its stays on is this right?

it stays on when pressed once, the once more and hold? but this is only when the car is running? in ign mode it seems to do nothing?
