I am trying to design a system to 'wirelessly control things from one end of the car to another without having to run a million wires back and fourth. It would make life much easier if I could just use a single large guage wire to power everything. Anyone know where I could find something like

if you use relays you could use small guage wire for the controlls.   there is no replacement for hardwiring, in my opinion.    xs

XS is right. use a multicore able to run relays it would be alot better. plus you'd have to hide them brains on each end...

Its not for what you think. An owner of an automotive shop came to me asking for help with his flatbed tow truck. He says that since there are millions of small wires running to his lightbar, they get pinched whenever the bed goes back and fourth & up and down. He wants to simplify that by just running a single heavy gauge wire around. The lightbar needs not much power as its all LED. I think the total current draw with all the lights going is around 24 amps (?). Im not sure if this is the wisest route, but its the best I could think of. Any input would be much appreciated.

where is the lightbar on the truck?  Would it be for a single self contained light bar, or a light bar with spots, driving lights, turn signals, or any other independantly controlled lights?  Is a heavily insulated california coil, or pigtail wire an option?  Is there a tube framing you could run them through, out to a non pinch point?

The lightbar sits atop the flatbed, right behind the cabin of the vehicle. In order for wires to be ran to it, they must travel down to the bed frame, all the way back the length of the bed, then all the way back forward towards the cabin. The point that they get pinched is when the bed goes up and then tilts downward, causing the wires inside to bend in half (awesome design huh?). I am not familiar with california coil or pigtail. The lightbar contains separate led lights that need separate switches to operate each independently. This is the only route to run the wires as the bed must be able to extend all the way back.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated!
