i have a 99 lexus rx300 suv. i have a compustar 2wssr (CM3000) alarm/remote start. this is the story. the alarm/remote worked perfectly, my battery died once and my remote start stopped working. the install guy told me the toyota module needed to be replaced. since then i havent got the remote start fiixed but i have been using my alarm. the other night my tv's were left on and the battery died again. i tried to boost it but it wont start. it cranks and cranks but just wont start. i tried valet mode but it still doesnt start. it cranks like its going to start but just goes nowhere. could the alarm have kicked in some auto kill feature or something? is there anything anyone can recommend trying before i get it towed to lexus and charged up the a**. any help is appreciated thx

if the starter is disabled in the alarm your car won't crank at all. so there is something wrong with the car and not the remote start.

does nyone have an idea about what would cause the car to crank but not start??? does that mean my starter could be dead?

theres no reason for you to replace any factory module. if he reccommends this, its possible that there is something wrong w/ the installation of the bypass that cause the ECU or module to failed.
for compustar, its possible that the installer did an ignition-kill, but i can tell that hes smart enough to troubleshoot that.
if he uses a BUS bypass, tell him to uninstall it and try again.
in the end, if it doesnt work, then youre in deep trouble.

If it cranks then sounds like its not getting fuel, spark to fire the engine need to start there.

Observe the red "SECURITY" light on the dashboard. It should be flashing while the car is off.
Insert a key. The light should come on solid for about one second, then go out and stay out.
Attempt to start the car. The light should stay out.
If the light is flashing with a key inserted, or while trying to start the engine, there is a problem with the immobilizer system..........if the light behaves properly, the immobilizer system is okay.

let your installer know, thats teh best way for you. you dont want to be liable for expensive repairs.
ur installer should know how to diagnose the problem.

my installer told me to this. the bypass module is a toyda (toyota data) v1.4 he told me unplug it. cut the ORANGE / black wire and the orange wire and connect them. then to cut the purle/white wire and the purple wire and connect those. then he said it should start fine until i get it replaced. does this sound like the right thing to do here? or is he just gunna mess things up more? also should i disconnect the battery before i cut the wire or does it matter??? thx

Shouldn't matter much about disconnecting the battery or not.
Doing what he says will help ONLY if it's the actual bypass module that is at fault.
If some of the bypass module's wiring connections are bad, or if there is something else wrong with the car, then you'll still be stuck.
Also, if you first try to rewired it yourself, and then it turns out that something else in the car was damaged........you're going to have an argument as to whether it was the installer's fault or yours.
Is the installer's shop very far away? The best thing would be to just get the car towed there.
