Disconnecting OEM Car Alarm for 90 Camry?

DEI is not listing a factory alarm for the 90 Camry. Are you sure this is a Toyota alarm or an aftermarket add on?

Are you just unplugging the brain? If so you may need to go into the kick panel or under the dash, and remove the harness there. Then plug the plugs back together from the car's harness.Tacomacrew

Yea Scott, I'm just trying to unplug the brain and put everything back to normal. However, when looking near the kick panel, the wires split in many different directions. Some wires look like they'd need more work than just unplugging and replugging a harness. (Some may have been spliced) Do you think there could be a fused that would just need to be pulled?

On the newer models there isn't a fuse. Try looking directly under the steering column, where the main hook ups are.Tacomacrew

Sounds like you have the dealer-installed factory alarm system. To completely remove the unit from the car can be a little bit time-consuming, but it is simple. To just disable/disconnect it might be easier. First, remove the driver's underdash panel----the part that is in front of the driver's knees. Should be four 10mm bolts, I think. This should allow you to access the wiring behind the ignition switch. It might look like a jumble of wires at first, but if you look closely, this is how the Toyota system works: The alarm has a harness running to the ignition switch, with two plugs----a female and a male. The installer would disconnect the original Toyota wiring from the ignition switch.......plug the alarm's male plug into the ignition switch.........and plug the Toyota's original male plug into the alarm's female plug. It's simply a T-harness setup, that allows the installer to make his connections without cutting into the factory Toyota wiring. A very clever setup. There are a few connections, such as the horn-honk wire and the trunk-ajar wire, that will be manually splice the old-fashioned way, or possibly attached with a red squeeze-on connector known as a Scotchlock. Anyway........... If you want to just disconnect and disable the system, undo the T-harness at the ignition switch, and plug the Toyota wiring back into the ignition switch, the way it was from the factory. That will get rid of the power going to the alarm, as well as disable the starter-kill feature. Or, if you want to completely remove the system.......... Simply follow all the harnesses from the brain.......undo ALL of the T-harnesses and restore the factory wiring to the way it was..........undo the manually spliced connections and re-tape the factory wire........remove the alarm brain and all of its harnesses........remove the red dash-mounted LED and replace it with a blank switch panel from the junkyard or dealership.

Thanks for the help Chris.... However, I'm not sure what to do at this part; I disconnected the BLACK/ white and BLACK / YELLOW wiring from the Alarm System. Unfortunately, I can't find where to plug the OEM (b/w and b/y) wires into. I'll try and post pictures ASAP.
