I'm trying to install Viper 150ESP remote start w/ remote keyless entry to 98 Camry with VIP RS3000 (Toyota alarm, keyless entry, starter disable).  Is there a way to interface the them easily or I have to yank out the factory alarm?  Does anyone have installation guide and wiring diagram for RS3000 and 98 Camry?  Thanks.

The easier thing to do is that you remove the factory alarm system.   The Toyota alarm system is all molex plugs.  You can remove those plugs and they are double ended plugs.  One plugs to the alarm system side and other to factory plugs side.  It takes about three to five minutes to remove the VIP RS3000.  Good luck.

98 Camry VIP RS3000 & Viper 150ESP -- posted image.Any idea where it (the main module/the brain) might be?  Once I find the brain, it should be easy to follow the wire trail and get the glass brakage sensor.  I'm not quite sure if I can re-use the factory status LED or not.  I've looked everywhere on the web and no-one has any info on this VIP RS3000.

Basically, I'm trying to avoid redundant wiring since the factory alarm has starter kill, door lock/unlock, ignition on - door lock, ignition off - door unlock, interior dome light control, and parking light control circuitry already.  If I know what each wire does, I think it would save some time to find all the wires and re-wire them again.

Thanks.

The VIP systems are installed after production by the dealer or distributor, so component location isn't always the same.  But if you pry out the large black panel to the left of the steering column, the panel with the power mirror switch....the brain is usually tied up behind there.  None that I've seen have a true starter kill, although the alarm will trigger if a start-attempt is made without a key in the ignition.

At any rate, though, you may not have to remove it.  Go out to your car and conduct a few tests, and we'll see what you can and can't do.

Before you begin, be aware of how the "Security" light functions:  When you properly arm the system, the light comes on steady for thirty seconds....your car is actually not protected during this time.  After the thirty seconds is up, the light begins to flash slowly; the car is now actually armed.

First, close the car and set the alarm with the remote; leave it alone for at least a minute.  Next, use the key (NOT the remote) in the door, to unlock and open the car.....did the alarm go off?  If not, this means you can disarm the system without the remote; this is good.

Now, close the door and use the key to lock it----does the alarm arm?  If so, that's more good news.

Third test:  Sit inside the car and arm the alarm.  Wait thirty seconds until the light starts flashing.  Now, stick the key in the ignition and try to start the car-----does it start?  Does the alarm sound?

Generally speaking, all of the VIP systems can be easily disarmed during remote start---you just have to activate the key sense wire, tricking the system into thinking a proper key has been inserted.  And some, but not all, of the systems can be armed and disarmed by triggering the wires that come off the door key cylinder.  Post back with the results of your tests, and I'll help you keep the system in place if it's at all possible.

The test results:

1. Close the doors and arm the system with the remote; use key to open the door - that triggered the alarm system.

2. Close the doors and lock them with the key from the driver side - it does not arm the alarm system.

3. Sit inside the car; close all the doors; arm the system with remote; wait thirty seconds or until the security status LED starts blinking and then start the car with the key in the ignition - yes it disarms the alarm system and started the car.

It seems like the keysense signal can be use to disarm the VIP RS3000.  H2/2 light GREEN/ black (-) factory security disarm and H3/1 blue (-) 200mA factory security rearm from Viper 150ESP can be used to disarm and rearm VIP RS3000.  Am I on the right track?  If so, how should the wire connection be?

It would be nice to know wire color, location, and how to get to the wire (undo four screws, open this cover, that cover, etc.)

Thanks a bunch.

Well, I don't know why you are spending so much time to bypass the factory VIP RS3000.  I removed 6 of this factory alarm system from Toyota 4 Runner and Camry.  It just take you 3 to 5 minutes to remove it from the vehicle.  VIP RS3000 is a dealer install alarm system and every locations is different.  It comes with factory double end plugs.  Everytime, I started at the Ignitions switch and unplug it then follow the harness to remove it from the vehicle.  The VIP RS3000 has around 6 double end plugs.  Once you unpluged all the plugs than you should find the alarm system.  The alarm same times located under the driver's dash or under driver's seat.

Good luck

Thanks for the info.  I just don't want to throw away something that is working fine.  Well worst come the worst, I'll have to yank out the VIP RS3000.  It's too late to return the Viper 150ESP.  If I knew it earlier, I could have bought 550ESP or 790XV.  Thanks again.

If you wants to keep the VIP RS3000, it's easier to find the alarm brain and test it at the brain.  VIP RS3000 is dealer installed and not factory install.  It will not have arm and disarm wire from the key lock switch on the door.  The keysense doesn't disarm the alarm system when VIP RS3000 sees Ignition is on and it automatically disarm the alarm system.  Most factory alarm system doesn't have starter disable, too.

OEM Alarm  Disarm:

RED / GREEN (-)

20 PIN CONN IN DRIVER'S KICK PANEL

Alarm  Input Wire:

RED / WHITE (-)

7 PIN WHITE CONN. ABOVE FUSE PANEL
