I am trying to figure on what wires to splice into for the Door Unlock/Lock and the Dome Light.    According to some other posts it states the below to use 13 and 14 at 40 Pins White.  I do not see where there is a 40 Pin connector.  Also,  how do you figure the numbers.  I did not see any Pin numbers on the BCM.   (See picture).  If someone can tell me (1,2,3, or 4 for below pic) for the correct connector and how are they numbers.  Thanks!

2004 Nissan Murano (should also apply to 2003):

BCM is high up to the right of the steering column. Route your remote starter's lock wires right along with the ignition wires.

Lock/arm is 13, disarm/domelight turnon/double-pulse unlock is 14. Does not control windows

There are empty pins that can control the lock/unlock simply strip wires n put into the pins in the bcm.

Is that the "back" of the BCM?

I would be cautious of the 'should work on 2003'.  I know that my G35 has a completely different BCM from 03 to 04, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Murano had a different one as well.

I would also be cautious about shoving wires in empty pins on the BCM, especially when there are no way to verify them.

The best way to get pin numbers is to reference the service manual for your specific vehicle.  Nissan has excellant manuals, and they are widely distributed.

Depending on what all you are doing, it will probably be beneficial to run wires in to the drivers door, where you can tap the lock/unlock wires.

Yes, 2003 BCM is different.
I was the one who wrote the article you've read, by the way.
DISCLAIMER:
I CAN tell you the correct location on a 2003 G35, or FX35/FX45..............your Murano is built on the same platform and is PROBABLY the same.........BUT, I've never done locks on an '03 Murano........if I'm wrong and your car explodes, DON'T blame me.
Anyway,
--At the BCM, find a brown plug, approximately 7 or 8 pins wide, by 2 pins tall.
--Look at the plug from this angle: Horizontally, wire-side facing you, clip-side facing up.
--So, at the top of the plug, in the center, should be the clip.......that's the angle you're looking at it from, right?
--To the left of the clip are 3 empty pins.
--You want the FIRST and SECOND empty slots to the left of that clip.........I forget which is lock and which is unlock, but if you get it backwards that obviously won't hurt anything; just switch it around.

Hey Chris, thanks.  So by my pic that would be the #1 brown one.   I will follow the instructions and reverse if needed.  Does anyone know about the dome light or do I have to find the switch.    P.S.  ( I do have the service manual, paid $20.00 to download from Nissan)  but it does not clearly state what needs to be done.   Thanks in advance for your replies.      Thomas

I mentioned the service manual because it will give you the exact pin numbers of every harness in the vehicle.  There most likely won't be any markings on the plug or socket to indicate pin numbers.  Good luck!

Yes, it does look like the plug would be the one marked #1 in your picture.
What is the domelight wire needed for....installing an alarm too?
There should be an illumination ring around the key cylinder. I believe it is wired identically to the domelight, and comes on when ANY of the four doors are opened.......but you should verify that.
If the illumination ring catches all four doors, just use that......there will only be two wires to test at the light, so that'll be easy.

Chris ... That is exactly what I am doing.  The alarm/remote start  is the APS997.   It  does have a ring that lights up when the door is open.  I will check if it comes on with all the doors / hatch.   Thanks!

I'm familiar with the APS-997, as I install Audiovox for a living.
If you are using the domelight wire as a door trigger, there will be extra chirps when arming the alarm, because the alarm "thinks" that a door has been left open, due to the domelight delay.
Near the back of the manual, the "completing the installation" part tells you how to "teach" the domelight delay to the alarm, and get rid of the extra chirps.

Awesome Info Chris!   Hey, I check the key ring light and does not come on when the back doors are open.  What do you suggest I splice into?  Do I need to go all the way up to the dome light?   Thanks   Thomas
