I just installed a DEI 561R in a 98' Intrigue and everything was going smoothly until I realized when I push the lock/unlock button on the remote, it would show a ground pulse on both lock/unlock wires(green & blue coming out of the 561R)!! I thought that there might be a malfunction with my 561R so I plugged a new one in and it did the same! How is it possible for two units to be sharing the same problem? There's not much to this install, so I don't see how I could have messed up anywhere that would cause this to happen. Anyone have any ideas why it would do this? When I remote start the vehicle, normal lock & unlock pulses return to their appropriate wires. Its only when the vehicle is just sitting, no key in, nothing. BOTH the green & blue wires get a ground pulse when the remote is pressed. What the F?????

Are you using the 451M relay pack for locks or just the GREEN/ blue harness? if the harness try the relay pack wired purples to ground brown and white not used and blue/black GREEN/ black to lock and unlock or vice versa

Need a little more info.

Is this causing any kind of problem? In other words do the doorllocks still work when you press the remote, or do they only work sometimes?

Getting a pulsed ground out reading on both wires won't hurt anything so I wouldn't be too concerned as long as the system is doing its job. A 98 Acura just needs a simple ground pulse for lock/unlock so we knows it's not the wiring. Also, when you read this ground are you using a test light or a meter? And, are the doorlock output wires connected to the doorlock wires of the vehicle when you are checking them, or you checking directly out of the 561 with nothing else connected?

You really don't need to use a 451m for this car and if the problem turns out to be defective units (highly, highly doubtful) the 451m would do the same thing because it is controled by the same doorlock outputs of the 561.

Also note..,most DEI brains will put out a positve at the SAME time as the other doorlock wire sends out a negative...then it switches the next time you press the remote.

Any chance this could be causing the confusion? It dosen't hurt anything because your car is a negative doorlock which uses relays from the factory. So sending a neg. moves the doorlocks..sending a positive does nothing because the other side of the relay coil is also positve.

They do this so the units have more flexibiltiy, you don't need relays for a positive doorlock, or negative doorlock circuits.

On the 561R when you press lock the green should show negative and the blue should show 12volts. When you press unlock just the opposite happens.

Yes, this I understand. The trouble is that when I push the lock/unlock button on the remote, the 561R sends a ground pulse on first the lock wire then quickly on the unlock wire, so the vehicle never locks. No matter how many times I push the lock/unlock button, I always get this. Now when I remote start the vehicle, THEN AND ONLY THEN does normal pulses return (lock works fine & unlock works fine, but only when the vehicle is remote started!!) The key in ignition also works fine (the key is turned on and the doors lock shortly after). The same is true when the key is removed from ignition.
Like I said, I have now tried 3 separate 561R units and they are all producing the same results. Did I get a bad batch of units or is there somehow a loop through some circuit thats messing everything up?? PLEASE HELP!!!

The chance of bad 561R's is almost zero. That leaves things that change when it remote starts, like possibly the amount of amperage. Have you checked the simple stuff, like a ground problem or power issue?

I agree completly with M2.

There has to be something in the install that is effecting the doorlock outputs. what exactly I don't know because I have never encountered this phenomina. However, it is probably something really simple you overlooked. Check everything until you find it and post back in case this ever happens to one of us.

Thanks

you didnt strap arm/disarm with the lock/unlock wires did you?

also, you only hooked up to ONE wire in the vehicle, right?    for example, you didnt do keyless to the keyless wire and also arm/disarm to the security wire?      as you only need to connect to one or the other....     just a thought.....
