Put an audiovox r/s in a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited this weekend. Used a DEI 457CW doorlock/alarm interface. I've found that randomly the 457cw will unlock the doors but won't disarm the alarm. 90% of the time everything works fine, but at least 2-3 times out of 20 lock and unlock cycles the alarm will not disarm, resluting on the alarm going off when the door is opened.
Any thoughts?
thanks,
-Jeff

Did you connect pink and pink/black and brown? Try boosting lock/unlock ground in with relays. Try reversing pink and pink/black.
Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.

Yes I connected pink, pink/black and brown. Reversing Pink and Pink/black? Big Dog, whats the logic behind that?
Today the alarm went off without even opening the door, pressed the unlock button, doors unlocked and alarm went off.
Also, one more question, the original diagram I found on 12volt didn't reference using a resistor for the parking lamps. While I've been searching and reading up on the problem I'm having with the alarm, I've noticed some reference to having to use a 350 ohm resistor. I've got the parking lamps operating by grounding the LT. GREEN/ orange wire that comes down from the switch on the stick. Works fine, headlights don't come on.

UPDATE:
I've added relays bettween the R/S and the DEI module, assuing a clean ground pluse is being sent to the DEI. Still no luck. The problem is only evident when unlocking.... if you remote start and then unlock there is no problem. Pressing unlock a second or third time only results in the alarm going off even if you don't open the door.
I'm really stumped here. Anyone have a way of getting ahold of DEI? Their website doesn't have any tech help. I'm wondering if I have a defective module. Or if I've simply missed something all together.
Would appericate any thoughts on how to remedy this...
thanks,
-Jeff

Jeff,

The CW module is a piece of crap.  Try using a relay and resistor instead of the CW.  Also make sure you have the correct wire by metering while turning the key in the door.  Sending a clean ground pulse to the CW really doesn't affect the CAN-BUS style programming the CW tries to duplicate.  I've had alarm installs that were all nice and taped into factory loom and pretty that I've had to cut up and all the customer's CW mod was used for was trunk pop...  Sometimes you just gotta go old school on it.  (Lt GREEN/ orange, 473 ohm resistor, must use relay).  Another way to disarm factory alarms on Chryslers is to power up ignigion(s), and sentry key (sometimes keysense too) on disarm/unlock.  Good luck.

If I add the resistor relayed to the arm/disarm wire(off the unlock pulse from the r/s I assume) should I disconnect the wire from the DEI? What about the trunk pop, will I need to set it up to disarm the alarm as well(assuming I leave the DEI installed for the trunk pop and lock unlock)
But I guess the stupid question is why did I buy the module if I'm going to have to wire up everything the old fashion way? Would love to talk to DEI about their wonderful product. Anyone had better luck with bypass kits.com module for this application?
Any thoughts on adding the 350 ohm resistor on the parking light line... it's currently realyed direct to ground. It works fine, only the parking lamps light up... but I'd rather not find out later that even thought it worked it was causing damage to something. As I've read through the archives, this topic seems debatable.

Anyone think its worth trying sawpping for another module? Anyone have access to the directed tech website? I appericate the advice so far. As a last resort I'll remove the dei and do the resistors... but I'd like to get my money's worth out of the DEI module.
thanks,

Hey Jeff, got your message and also called the supplier, I can grab that module and have them swap it for another one, Ill give you a call on Friday and figure it out, sorry I couldnt get back to ya, had 3 RSs to do and built a new workbench, I think it is just a problem with the module,I would swap it out and if still problems I will look into maybe a bypasskit module...

Hey Jeff, late day at work today... troubleshot a competitor's rem/st with many t taps and scotch locks(and a CW mod)... 04 Ram Cummins 2500, bitch and a half to get the lights off... looked like a damn Christmas tree on the dash. You misunderstood.  Do the factory alarm disarm seperate from the CW mod itself, disco the one from the brain to the CW. the trunk pop analogy was about another car, just letting you know the CW has a mind of itself.   Directions only "kinda apply".

I have access to the DEI www.directechs.com passowords, and DEI's tech support.  Their staff is a bunch of arrogant **** since they won best cust. support award last year.  PM me a # to talk more.

The plot thickens!! I swapped in a new 457cw module this morning... no change. Also noticed another problem when the 457 is connected, if you unlock the car with the factory fob or the key in the door and close the door a moment or two later, the alarm arms. The door is still unlocked so when you go to open the door, the alarm goes off. This is a direct result of the 457, because when the 457 is disconnected this doesn't happen.
Resistors and relays is my plan now... completly remove the 457. Here is the game plan, if I've missed anything, please let me know:
Unlock: Connect from R/S unlock pulse to relay, ground pink/purple in drivers door harness via 470ohm resistor
Lock: Connect from R/S unlock pulse to relay, ground pink/purple in drivers door harness via 1425 ohm resistor
Disarm: R/S has a pulsed ground before start/unlock wire- connect this via 473 ohm resistor to light GREEN/ orange in drivers door harness.
Flip Lid glass: R/S has pulsed ground output- direct connect to yellow/white below steering column or ORANGE / pink at BCM
Quite frankly, its hard at this point to put any more time into the DEI module, just to wonder what other problems are going to crop up. After more and more research, it seems as though the resistor method is the way to go.
