2001 gmc p/u remote starter

i cant seem to find which wire is the starter wire i think there maybe a starter kill    help!!!!!!!!

The starter wire should be a yellow wire. It may not be a thick wire.

It's a YELLOW ( 14 guage wire ) coming along side the steering column. You have to remove the lower knee bolster and the protective steel casing from around the steering column to access the wires.

Yes you do need a relay. Wire up a relay like this and make sure you solder your connections to the cut starter wire.

installing a remote starter ..... what is the wiring diagram for that vehicle  and where do i cut for the relay???? please help ???

If you have a data port plug for OBD II under the dash on the drivers side, you will need an adapter module to bypass the anti-theft system thru the trucks data buss.  My 04 GMC has a Passlock II system, I used a DEI 457GW bypass module and it worked fine.  Connect to data buss only (not the passlock wires in the steering column) and put a diode in the ground wire from the unit (stripe on diode toward the ground connection).
