Installing a Viper 791...car is a '02 SVT Focus
I diode isolated the door triggers using the method mentioned here, which is to have the strip of the diode facing AWAY from the Viper?...this doesn't seem to be correct. When I arm, the transmitter shows me a door is open, even though it isn't.
And once armed, and I open the door, the alarm doesn't go off...
Are the diodes backwards??
I also can't find the power lock triggers. I'm tapping in at the GEM behind the glove box, using the 3rd plug down (when unplugged, locks don't work)...
I read somewhere it is the blk/red and blk/yel wires...There is only one blk/red, and 2 blk/yel....NONE of them trigger the locks!
However, this plug is a very light blue, not grey as I've read here. The only plug that seems grey, is actually
more white, and tapping into those colour wires on that plug doesn't work either. The white (grey) plug is the second from the top.

It's hard to imagine Ford changing the wiring and plug colours for different years...
What am I doing wrong :(

Your door pin problem can be solved 2 ways....the first requires 4 more diodes installed BEFORE the trigger wire of the alarm, one would be placed "in line" with each door pin wire, and the cathode on the diode should face AWAY from the BCM. The second is the easier....find a blue/blackPOS(+) "all door pin" wire at the BCM, no diodes needed. It's in the plug below the plug that has the trunk release in it.

The locks are in the drivers kick...blk/red, and blk / YELLOW. The are in a harness almost under the carpet.... There is also the possability of needing to wake up the BCM.

Dome light supervision...where would this go? Can it be used to wake up the car?

Thanks

I've always used Kartuneman's suggestion, the BLACK/ blue wire going to the domelight itself(tho i think it is a negative). You can get it in the drivers kick on 4 doors, at the GEM on 2 doors. Like him i also get locks in the drivers kick, you gotta get under the carpet and the insulation to find them...

Okay, I'm in the drivers kick panel, and found the power lock/unlock wires, but there is a problem...

The blue wire coming out of the Viper for the lock (or unlock) seems to be constantly energized! When I tap into the blk/yel with this wire, it triggers the unlock (and disables the unlock switch in the door).

When I tap the blue wire into the blk/red, it locks the door, and disables the lock button on the door switch...

WTF! Please, someone help...

I thought, well maybe both need to be hooked up for it to work, but no....tried that and nothing. Seemed like the blue wire was constantly sending a signal to the unlock.

Does the door trigger have to be hooked up for the door locks to work??

I also tried tapping into the blk/blu for the trigger at the central locking module...tried every plug that had a blk/blu, and nothing. When I opened the door with the car armed, it didn't trigger a door opening warn away...

Update: Well, turns out it's my fault (I think)

I had the door lock plug, plugged into the bit writer port, which is the exact same plug config as the lock plug...DAMN!!

But now my remote has gone outta sync with the unit in the car, so I'm trying to re-sync and test...pffff

AGGRIVATION!

It will NOT sync...I've pressed the button 70 times!

The unit in the car is working fine...doors lock on start, unlock when I turn off the car, remote start works fine...

Everytime I hit lock button on the remote, it transmits, but then I get a flashing anntena icon telling me it's out of sync (or not recieve an acknolegement from the car)

Did I screw it up somehow? It worked with the lock/unlock plug in the bit writer port!

Try programming the remote to auto learn 4 times.

Key on, door open, pressvalet buttton and release, hold button in while pressing lock button on remote. Repeat 4 times...

Okay, thanks...but I don't have the door triggers hooked up yet :(

With it unhooked, would the unit think I just opened the door, or would it think the door is closed? I guess I can ground out the door pin lead momentarily...
