remote start 98 Beetle

I just bought a 98 Beetle and want to know if I can install a remote starter to the car.I've been told that the key to the car has a chip in it and it will only start with the key.Is this true,if so is there a way to get around this problem and install the starter.Any help would be great.

According to make tech sheet it does not have an Immobilizer.

So that means I can go ahead and install the remote starter fine with out installing anything else.

chris is right, no immobilizer on that car..........
