The car is in lock out mode, which doesn't allow the engine to turn over.  The customer had a remote start installed at another shop a few months ago.  He doesn't drive it every often maybe once every 2 weeks if that, and he noticed that sometimes his remote starter wouldn't start the car.  So I'm thinking they used a ring instead of cutting the immobilizer, the proper way.  So he would try and remote start the car it wouldn't turn over so then we would use the key, and it still didnt turn over.  Now even with the original key the car will not turn over, I'm thinking the immobilizer is in lock out mode.

How do I reset the ecu and get the car running again.  I've tried disconnecting the batteries and touching the (+) and (-)  to discharge anything in the capacitors.  We've let the car sit disconnected overnight.  We tried changing to a new battery.  Nothing seems to work.  I don't have Vag-com nor do I have access to one.  The car is stuck in the guys driveway.  Btw the car is completely stock excepted for a chipped ecu which was installed 3 years ago.   What can be done?

Is the security flashing or stuck on? I am assuming that everything powers up just no vroom vroom. Man I hate VW's biggest pain in the but to install.

Also I know it sounds trivial and you may have already thought of it, but have you checked the starter kill hook up or the relay?

The security light just flashes, but yea everything power ups and it even cranks.  It just doesn't turn over.  I am all out of ideas.

Sounds like a towtruck and dealership deal to me. That is the only way to unlock the computer I can think of. Man that sucks. Not to mention you may have to remove the remote start. But who knows it may not be the remote start it could be something else.

Yeah, it does have gas.  I've already took out the remote starter, to uncomplicate things.  Still stuck though :(

Man I know that sucks. I hate it when I can't fix something. Every once in a while it's just out of your reach. Was the transponder wired like you thought though? Also was the remote start install a hack job? Just wondering if you still think that is what did it.
