cab lights not working

Installed a compustar 2 way on a 2000 Chevy Silverado everything works fine except for none of the cab lights are working, Instead what happens is when I try to turn on the map lights or open the drivers door while the truck is running the message center in the dash says Cargo Lamp On even if I open the glove box this happens. If any of the interior lights come on this happens, I checked the dome overide and that is not the problem just wondering if someone could help trouble shoot this
