Yes you can, and no you do not need to disconnect the factory alarm.  You also have to get a bypass module for your vehicle because without installing that module it will not let you crank and run the vehicle.  In this particular vehicle it is the PASSLOCK 2.  My question for you is, are you going to install this system?

just a pointer, you only need to pull out the radio for three wires. 2nd ignition, and the passlock wires. the russt can be had under the dash, left side under the steering wheel.

I planned on doing this myself, but I never installed before. Thought it would be easy. Now it sounds kinda difficult. Any other comments or pointers would be nice.

Whats your time worth? I have heard staggering numbers (2 days) from diy'ers that have attempted to do thier own remote start and a few have come in on the hook.

heh,  those cars cn be a pita if your not too familiar with remote starters,  if its a 5 speed sometimes you cant evven do them because of the shift lock.  i'd take it to a pro,  the frustration you might have could be worth its weight in gold.
