ultra start 1270 2006 escape panic alarm

Sometimes the panic alarm goes off when I open the door after unlocking with the Ultra Start remote. It doesn't happen all the time and I haven't been able to figure out the circumstances that causes it. I can only shut it off by inserting the key in the ignition and turning it. This is a 2006 Ford Escape with no alarm system and a Ultra Start 1270 remote starter. Thanks in advance for any help.

It is not disarming your factory alarm. When you lock your doors via the door switch you arm the factory alarm, then you unlock it with your ultra start remote  and it triggers the horn.

I just tried locking with door switch then unlocking with remote and the panic didn't go off. It only happens occasionally and I've tried to make it happen this afternoon but it wont. The vehicle does not have factory alarm, just the panic alarm.

Thanks, That seems to be the problem. I didn't wait 2 minutes yesterday and tried it today and it went off. I'm not real happy with this installation. They also didn't install the hood pin switch. Do you think a different shop will even work on this or should I take it back to the same shop?

You can also grab the disarm wire in the drivers kick. If it was installed by a shop return the shop and have them hook up the disarm, as far as the pin switch many shops do not use them as they tend to corrode very fast in some areas and fail as a result.

They should be using the Arm and Disarm wires in the car instead of the lock and unlock wires. Then they will need to set the unit to double pulse unlock. I usually set it to a shorter unlock pulse as well so the doors unlock quicker. This is an easy car to work on. How they screwed this one up I don't know. Right now the factory alarm isn't arming unless you lock the car with the door open. I am not a fan of hood pin switches either because of the same reason as the post above this. If you do have them put one in, get a mercury type switch that mounts to the underside of the hood. The 'plunger type' switches that often come with remote starters are crap. They rust out within a year or two if you are located in an area that snows.

It was careless of the shop not to check to see if you have a factory alarm, but still, it's a small and easily corrected error. But why not go back to where it was installed and have them fix it? I don't know about the other guys here, but I try not to touch stuff that was installed by someone else. Basically, if it's something small, I'll fix it for free if I'm in a good mood. If it's something big, I'll offer to pull everything out, charge you full price, and put a whole new system in. My experience is that if I charge you $10, 20, 100 or whatever to repair it, now I own the whole thing, and every problem in the future will be considered my fault.........I think a lot of other shops you go to are going to feel the same way.

if it is an 06 it does have an alarm guaranteed even the lowest model has it. in the drivers kp there are WHITE/ violet(lock and arm) and blue/green (unlock/disarm) the disarm is a double pulse first pulse diarms second pulse unlocks so youll have to program for double pulse unlock and also hook up ur disarm wire to the blue green as well.Steve Sverdahl
