Just looking for a little more information on this unit, experiences, comments, etc. I'm looking to get one installed but I cannot find much information on the unit in regards to quality, functionality, durability or any flaws, or benefits the unit might have.
Thanks

unfortunately im not impressed with the compustar units, nor the vipers. the keyfobs they use appear to be more delicate. Ive witness after the first good tumble to the ground, they're finished. the ca180 keyfob appears to be built a little more robust, which is why im looking for more first hands experience with the unit, or other units that have a similar designed unit.

I have used all of the above units and found the compustar to be the best for installation ease, ease of use and life of the unit they sell cases for the compustar remotes. That will definately increase the life of the remote

ive installed many of both and have never had a problem with a code unit.  the same cannot be said of the two way compustar pieces.  ive hadbad shock sensors, bad antennas, 1 bad remote, 2dead units and a few with defective window knock sensor things that keep setting off the alarms.

Wow installmarc I feel bad for you I've never had any of the above wrong with a compustar unit i've installed hundreds and not one issue 3 ca-180s and each customer has come back because either they can't figure out the system or it isn't fuctioning as it should. Nothing install related just not simple systems.

chad, would you mind elaborating on what issues were experienced with the ca180's? im not too worried about not being able to figure it out since i work in IT. but if its system issues id definitly like to hear more about it. i cant find anyone in my own city thats used that model, a lot of ca160's and 120's but nothing with the 180.

My customers have had issues with the shock sensor going off at random times the techs have explained it as the shock sensor being set to closely together. After adjusting it twice it still was doing it for them. Very slow response time and the system is not the cleanest to install with harnesses coming out every which way. Trust me when I tell you that compustar will be the better system. Do you have any local compustar dealers just ask them which system they would recommend. Installmarc are you a compustar dealer or have you just installed systems that have been brought to you?

Thanks for the feedback chad, that info has been very helpful.
since you know a great deal about the compustar units, what information can you provide on the "2WSHLEDR" searching on here i wasnt able to find anything. i've never liked the LCD style units for shape and size, LED has allways been something ive considered but dei viper/clifford/python units are all AM based from what ive read, and are very slow to respond.
and expericned with that compustar model ive listed above?

you are definitely right about the on-board shock sensors.  the solution i use is an outboard shock sensor.  code has addressed this by removing the on-board for this years models.
