Hey guys, i'm just learning about switches and i'd like to know which kind of switch would be best for my application?

I'll be installing heated mirrors on my truck in the next few weeks and i need to know what switch will do what i want...

I have a car starter on my truck so.... i'd like the heated mirrors to come on when the truck starts up in the morning if i leave the switch on position after i turn the truck off the night before. But i'd like to be able to shut them off anytime i'd like...I'll be adding a timer circuit so it SHOULD turn off after 7 minutes or so... now do i need a SPST? or DPDT? Momentary on? Please Help!

I would connect the mirrors to an aux out from the remote start. Then you have total control.... on, and off.

The issue will be weather or not they will need/want a latched or pulsed trigger.

What type of R/S is installed in the truck?

Following switches would fit the bill from appearance and ease of installation, also at least 10amp rating so no relays needed from switch.

7600100 series

So if i take one of the above swtches (with at least a 10A rating) and run them to a Timer circuit then to the mirrors everything should be fine without a relay?

I plan on tapping into the cig lighter circuit... is that a good idea?

i was looking at getting a switch that matches the rest of them, just so everything looks OEM.. would any SPST switch work?

Yes, but check the amp rating on both heated mirrors, although cig lighter should be 15amp., I would run it from ign. circuit not acc although it doesn't matter which before the fuses, ie from 2nd ign wire if vehicle has one, then fuse it. If you go for a latching timer relay, you only need a momentary switch and use 12v LED illumination after relay. Which switch you use I've no idea because beauty is in the eye of the beholder which heated mirror switch? -- posted image.

Well that last website i posted for the switches is just too complicated to order from...

Would it be possible to use a swtich from an older Toyota? I have a Fog light switch here that was from my 98 Accord.. would that work?

Yes but, use a relay for safety because we don't know the switche's current rating.

would i be able to run the lights on the switch with the 555 timer circuit? that way the light on the switch would turn off when the timer runs out?

Can anyone draw a half decent diagram of the setup? i would really appreciate it since i am not good at this kinda stuff...
