I'm putting in a basic remote start into a 2004 toyota mr2 spyder. My question is that in order for the car to start you need to have the brake depressed. Is there anything special that needs to be done in order for the remote start to work. I was thinking that maybe a relay needs to be used to send a 12v signal to the brake during remote start.

Theres nothing in the wiremagic tech notes, OR the astrochart, for this car being anything other than a normal install?

I have the wiring guide. But normally aren't you supposed to interface it some how. Otherwise I can't see how it will get started. I guess I'll try to hook it up normal and hope that it works.

Most remote starts wont allow the remote to start with the brake wire engaged so you will need to be creative. The unit will have to send 12v+ to the brake but not the remote start. I imagine a couple relays may be needed to accomplish that.
Here is a possible solution:
relay #1
pin 30 to fused 12v+ constant
pin 85 to fused 12v+ constant
pin 86 to negative crank output off remote start
pin 87 to the brake wire that needs to go 12v+ to start
relay #2
pin 30 to remote start 12v+ brake trigger
pin 86 to negative crank output off remote start
pin 85 to a fused 12v+ constant
pin 87a to the brake wire that goes hot (GREEN / WHITE)
If the remote start unit doesn't offer a negative output for a second starter you will need to send a positive through a diode to pin 85 of both relays and on both relays change pin 86 to a ground
The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

So tried it and it didn't work. Any other ways you can think of. I think the problem with the diagram you gave me is that there is only one wire in the brake switch that switches to 12v when pressed and thats the GREEN / WHITE.

Check if there is another switch on the brake pedal. I did couple of these awhile back but do NOT remember such a thing, or it might have been MT.
my diagramdo NOT show anything needs to be active prior to starting. link is for 04 mr2 spyder.

There is only the one switch coming from the brake. Here are the wire colors. RED / Blue White GREEN / WHITE RED / white. The only two wires that test are GREEN / WHITE which is brake and white that is 12v. I tried wiring up this relay configuration and it didn't work

Relay 1

86-(-) starter output

85- 12v fused

87a- GREEN / WHITE switch side

30- GREEN / WHITE opposite side

Relay 2

86-(-) starter output

85 87- 12v fused

30- GREEN / WHITE opposite switch side

Is this setup correct. With this configureation it still doesn't work and it sends 12v to the GREEN / WHITE during crank. but does not crank.
