its been a while since i put an alarm in.  anyways, i was wanting to put an alarm(2way)/remote start in my 06 chevy express cargo van diesel.  i currently have factory remote locks.

i've seen a few van diagrams on this site, with some variences.  is there an up to date wiring diagram, with the necessary wires for the diesel?

also, any good recommendation for a remote/alarm unit?  i'd like to have the 2way for keeping at home(use to start only, and notification), and to have a normal sized fob for most times. also, i'd need a unit compatible with a diesel.

thanks

Wait to start wire is at pin 16 at the ECM in a 58 pin plug, it is a blue wire negative polarity.
My recommendation for a security/alarm is DEI, something like the Avital 4400/Hornet 564T. Easy to install (IMO)and very reliable. For bypassing your Passlock I recommend the GMBP by trilogix(bypasskit.com). The GMBP is by far the easiest way to bypass that system.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

you mentioned passlock 1.  did you mean passlock 2?

also those systems you recommended seem pretty good.  how about a system with a 1 mile range? like the viper 7900/5900?  are they good?  i'd like a system with a long range.

thanks for the help.  this is an awesome site.

The GMBP will do passlock II and I believe thats what he meant. The 5900 and 7900 are great units. Both reliable and pretty straight forward. The only issue I've seen with DEI 2way remotes, are sometimes the remote stops receiving a signal from the vehicle. The features still work in the vehicle, just not 2waying. There are some loose solder joints on the circuit board of the remote that can be re-soldered and it will work again. Not a common problem but I have seen it more than once.
