I  installed a car alarm and the  on- board relay  which  is used for the parking light flash  went out !!  Does anyone know where i can buy  a replacement relay  or could i just install a regular relay and will that work?

I have seen only a handfull of bad relays in alarms. There was visible damage on each of them.  Is there visible damage on yours?  If not, what makes you think it is bad?

But to answer your question, yes they can be replaced.  And yes you can figure out which terminal of the onboard relay is the trigger wire and run that wire out to a Standard SPDT automotive relay.

It was working for a while   then  the alarm brain would make a  clicking sound   and  cause the alarm to chirp non stop  until  I removed  the fuse  on the  parking light  input wire.

The parking lights pull more current than anything else on the alarm system.  If the parking light feed was attached to the same point that the alarm's constant wire was connected, you may have a bad connection, that is good enough to power the rest of the system but when the lights were trying to flash, the connection showed that it was bad.
