Passive Starter Kill

I tried the "passive starter kill" using two relays and I wired it exactly as the diagram instructs.  When I energize the relays I get  no power to the leads that would power the starter....  I can't seem to figure out what it could be.

I bought two standard 30 amp SPST relays (w/out the 87a pole) from radioshack.

Any thoughts would be great.

This is the diagram I used by the way.  The only diff. is my relays don't have an 87a pole.   Oh yeah and the picture on the back of the relays instructs the 85 pole for ground, but I was under the impression that you can wire the coil either way.

Someone has to have had this problem before.

Sorry about multiple posts, but I keep remembering to add things..

When I close the switch the relays "click" and when I cut the power they release, but I get a reading of 0 volts on my meter between 87 and 30 on the "left" relay in the picture above.   Prior to hitting the switch the meter (auto ranging) the numbers fluctuate which is normal.

I am getting 12 volts at the switch and the grounds are good.  I am using a battery jumper which is putting out 12.5 volts steady as my power and ground source.

I have the whole ass. out of the car on a bench for now to make sure everything worked.   That is where things went wrong.

Are you saying that w/o it being installed I wouldn't see 12v at the 87 and 30 on the left relay??

Hold on.... I might be a flippin idiot here.....

Is there even supposed to be 12v between 87 and 30 (key side and motor side)??? Should I be checking only 87 to ground and then 30 to ground... seperately???

I hope that I am not that stupid about this whole thing??? 

yes because on the left relay 87 is the input of the 12 volts for the starter and the 30 is the output for the starter all the relay is doing inbetween 87 and 30 is letting juice flow to the starter when it is command on by the right one if you set it all up like that pics shows and use a 12 volt source to 87 on the left relay and the momentary switch is pressed then you will see 12 volts at 30 on the left relay witch would tell you that it is going to give the starter its 12 volt to start via. 30  im me if you need more help
