I have started installing a commando alarm system with remote start.

I am currently at the part to hook up the remote start. could someone help me out with a wiring diagram . I also have the  GM 555L Passlock interface module to go with....  so now i have double the wires. If you do have pics,it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Paul Courmier

on that vehicle its fairly easy. There is a three wire harness attached to the key cylinder. There is a black wire and a yellow wire in that harness. Cut the yellow wire in half and hook up the yellow off the module to the key side and the BLACK / YELLOW to the other side. Then splice into the black wire and hook up the black wire off the 555L. You then take the red wire off the 555L to constant power, the pink wire to ignition and the blue/black wire to the ground out when running wire off the command start. I have never used commando so you will have to check your manual to see which color the ground out when running is. The other two wires on the module which should be BLACK/ white and purple are not used on your car. I hope this helps

that is what i wish instructions said  lol   " this color to this color and this side"  all good except  there are 3 wires like you said at the cylinder 1 yellow and 2 black  which black wire do i splice into... I think i have the commando alarm now though....  no wires off the alarm go to the cylinder, they all go to ignition side... that was confuseing me for awhile now.

On this vehicle you do need the purple and BLACK/ white wires from the 555L.
The BLACK/ white wire goes to the BLACK/ white bulb test wire on the car(this is a small gauge wire in the ignition harness, and it will show ground when the key is turned to the crank position.
The purple wire from the 555L goes to a wire on the remote start which is (-) during cranking(such as a small gauge wire going to a relay if your remote start has external relays, or a small gauge 2nd starter wire output).
I've found the easiest way to get to the Passlock wires is in the harness running down the steering column with gray tape. As stated earlier, they should be black, yellow, and white.

SH*T my bad passlock II started in 99 and you said 98 which is passlock I. Chriswallace is absolutly right. And If you have 2 black wires than one of them is gonna carry 12v. Do not tap into the 12v line. Now you said earlier that it may be just an alarm. If its just an alarm then the 555L is usless to you. Its only good for remote starters

Chris wallace... thankx for those passlock wires... I was only thinking about the wires going into the cylinder... the connection (check, whatever) right before it does have the black yellow and white
