I got a alpine tme-m750.  Why do i have to wire it to the parking brakes, and foot brake?  Wut does that have to do with supplying power to the tv?  Does my stereo harness have those specific wires for easier wiring or do i have to find the actual wires.

EDIT: found out the answer

I know this has been on the forum before, but could you please review it again for me?  How do i bypass the footbrake and parking brake?  This is going on a 97 honda civic ex.  Please describe in detail. Alpine LCD Screen Wiring -- posted image. Thanks!

PS: i dont know anything about relays. Read basics/relay, but im still pretty confused as of how to use them.

You need the parking brake and the foot brake because this is Alpine's way out of law suits from consumers who crash their cars because they were driving their cars while watching a movie with their equipment installed. Here are some links for the past posts regarding this topic:

ok thanks, you say connect the parking brake to ground plus a switch to toggle on/off. So does that mean when the switch is off it is connected to ground and when it is on it has no connection to anything wut so ever?  Also, how should i connect the foot brake, i did not see that in the post.  Do i ground that wire also? And last, wut wire in a civic gives 12 volts when ignition is turned on?  I think i might connect it to the power supply of my stereo but you say i have to connect a relay?  Please describe what kind of relay and how i should connect it.  Im pretty new to relay business.  Sorry alot of questions.

You take the parking brake wire and ground it.  You don't need a switch unless you really want one, just use self control and don't watch TV while you drive.  Also get yourself a 12volt light tester @ radio shack.  The rest is a no brainer.

Wut about the foot brake?  There are two wire i have to connect for alpine, parking brake and foot brake.  I have 12 volt tester, but i rather have sumone tell me the wire then going through the trouble of testing a few wires just cuz im lazy : P  One main question though is how do i connect a relay to the stereo power wire to prevent overloading?  Is the relay really nessacary?

I don't know why there would be a wire for the foot brake but if there is.. there sould be a relay trigger towards the top of your foot brake shaft that you could connect to.  Are you sure it's not for a back up camera?  If so you don't need it unless you are using one.  Answer to question on the relay.  I don't use relays for head units.  The wiring harness that comes with the head unit sould have an in-line fuse on it to protect you from such things.  Hope this helps.

Here's the deal with Alpine:

You need the foot brake ( which is a (+) input to the TME-M750 ) and the hand brake ( - ) input to the TME-M750 to operate the system while in park. Alpine deviced a system where you need to pull up the hand brake ( which gives the system a (-) signal ) , press the foot brake for a second ( which gives the system a (+) signal ) and then you have to release the hand brake and re-engage it again but this time the (-) signal has to be there for the entire time you wish to enjoy the video portion of your system. Once the (-) signal is removed ( or the parking brake is lowered ) then the system shuts off because it knows that you are in motion once the (-) signal is not present anymore.

This is where the toggle switch somes into play. The toggle switch will not replicate the hand brake portion of the sequence. Do the same steps as above, now use the toggle switch ON/OFF to give the system a ground and now as long as the toggle switch is ON ( or GROUNDED ) then the video plays on the screen while you are parked ( ?? Alpine LCD Screen Wiring -- posted image. ) Hook up the foot brake wire as per instructions as you do not need to place any relays for this connection. The only thing is that once the 12 volt ignition wire is no longer powered( like when you turn off your car or your battery dies ) , you need to re-do the initialization process for the video to play on the screen again.

foot brake is the GREEN / WHITE wire for a civic correct?  Is there anyway i could connect the lcd wire to the wire from my alarm that connects to the brake wire?  This would make it much simpler since my brake wire is the hardest wire to reach and manipulate.  Also, can you explain to me how i would connect my lcd to the stereo power wire with a relay?  You said this would prevent it from overloading or sumthing right?  I have no idea how to use relays.  Thankyou for your help.

Yes, the GREEN / WHITE is the foot brake input wire. Yes, if you have to piggyback another connection on the brake wire, then do so. Get a 30/40 amp 5 pin relay and wire it like so:

  • 85 : Remote wire from stereo
  • 87 : Constant 12 volts
  • 86 : GROUND
  • 30 : To remote wire on monitor
  • 87a: NOT USED
