I understand this alpine video bypass topic was brought up about two thousand times already but I still have some issue with why my TME-M760 monitor gives the famous "video off for your safety" message SOMETIMES, not all the times.
When the monitor is powered on, and ignition is turned off then on, I can see video. That means the TR-7 is doing the simulation, right?
But if the monitor is shut off (by pressing the power button on the monitor) while ignition is on and next time when ignition key is off and on, and I power up the monitor (by pressing the power button), it will give the "video off for your safety" message. This is what happens when sometimes my passenger turns off the monitor when he/she is done with the movie. Next time when we get back on the car and I have my ignition on and car run, the monitor gives that message when the passenger turns the monitor on. This bothers me as I have to pull over, shut off ignition and restart, and interrupt the movie (my 3 yr old really doesn't like it.)
I am pretty sure I wired everything correctly. Foot Brake (Yellow/black) to the blue wire. ebrake (yellow/blue) goes to the white wire. Remote control output lead (white brown in case of TME-M760 - which is contradictory to the color described by PAC) connects to green wire. Programming is set to version 2. I have 12V ACC on both TR-7 and the monitor. Afterall, it works when ignition is turned on while the power button is on.
I would like to know if any pros out there know when that monitor remote control output wire actually give out a low-voltage signal (to trigger the simulation). Does it do that when 12V is applied and/or when monitor power button is pressed?
I would need to know when the 12V and the trigger signal are applied to the TR-7 AT THE SAME TIME, does the TR-7 do the simulation?
I even tried to tie the green trigger wire from the TR-7 to the 12V acc instead of the remote control output wire. It made no difference.
Maybe I should wire both TR7 and the monitor to 12V constant? That might drain my battery. Or I should hook up a momentary switch between the green trigger wire and 12V acc so that my passenger can press it to trigger the simulation? (That would not be a perfect installation then.)
Would TME-M760 requires different simulation other than the stupid usual dance (foot brake set (+12V), ebrake on, off, on (ground, no ground, ground), then foot brake off (no 12V) )?? Or there is only one kind of dance need for all Alpine monitor?
