I have to disagree with you Big Purds. I run (2) 12" Punch HX2's fed apx. 500 watts each from a Power 1000bd, and they aren't poor at SQ or SPL by any means. I know RF isn't the "best of the best" for either, but the HX2 series (Punch or Power) is by no means "poor overall". I've always taken your advice since you are one of the heavy hitters here, but I've got to disagree with you on this one hmm...What to do? - Page 3 - Last Post -- posted image.
BTW, nice choice on the amp series troysnx. The JBL BP series is a solid choice for price and performance.

I just looked at that link provided for ebay...
I think that any of the senior members here or the more knowledgable members should take a look at the claims made by this box builder, because I have spent the last 5 or 10 mins either laughing in hysterics or marvelling in awe at the outrageousness of the claims made...we should all buy a box from him and demand our money back...

Ok guys, head unit and Alpine Type R 6.5's came in today.  A blown fuse, cut fingers, and many sweaty hours later I managed to fully install the head unti.  Woo!  But then I go to my Component speakers and find out the drivers magnet is huge, and will not fit in my doors.  :(  Damn.  I was thinking I could go search and maybe just buy some mini sub like boxes and thorugh them behind the drivers and passanger seats.  But that would put almost all of my music comign from behind me, I dunno if thats bad or good.

But anyway any suggestions at all will be very helpful!

Get some mounting rings, or make some....factory speaker locations are usually the best place to keep the speaker, Japanese cars especially take special care in finding a good place to create a good sound stage. I had the same problem when i had those speakers...I cut a bigger hole in my doors and suffered by not being able to open the windows the whole way, then ended up using rings myself

hmm....I'm gonna need atleast a 1 inch, possible one and a quarter, rings.  Is that too much?  I'm assuming you find these at basically any audio car store, how much do they run for?

I would make- or have someone thats skilled with wood working make the rings...then have the edges round down...then you get some gloss spray paint and spray paint them to match.  about 4 to 6 coats...sanding with fine grit paper in between.

I dunno about premade rings tho...they could have them????

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

if you are going with 10's. get your money out of the L5's & mmats are the best out there for the money. in that car if it is powered right you will only need 1.as for the amp remember power costs money about 50 cents a watt. thats real power not what it will do for a split sec.
