What is a GMDL and where od I get it? Is it like a DDLS or a DM-1? If the thing is reverse polarity, i just assume to wire up 2 relays instead of buying a module. If it's not anything like that or some configuration that would require a million relays, then the interface would used.

We have an Audiovox AS-GMDT1 unit that *supposedly* does the doorlocks by using the databus input wire in a door panel to control the locks. The unit only has four wires: red 12volt, black ground, purple databus wire, and brown wire to connect to the audiovox keyless system. Is this like the gmdl?

  • Data interface kit provides complete integration to the factory doorlocks and security system with any aftermarket remote starter and/or alarm system.
  • Factory personalization features such as: Drivers Seat, Mirror, and Radio station preset memory are maintained with the installation of this kit with any remote aftermarket system. *(Driver #1 only)
  • Doorlock interface kit will: Disarm/rearm GM factory security system as well as unlock and lock doors.
  • Factory priority unlock feature: Drivers door unlock (First press) and passenger door unlock (Second press) is maintained
  • Easy to install kit eliminates the need for relays and does not require the door panels to be removed. This will hook up to the GM's databus wire.
  • Total of 6 mandatory wires nee to be connected and 9 wires total if you want all the bells and whistles of this module to be connected to the alarm or remote starter

putting a keyless system on. Ive been told in a previous post about getting some sort of databus module but no one seemed to answer my question about the lock system: is there a particular relay configuration that I can do that will work on this truck or is this Databus module the only way to go. The guy has some audiovox databus module already that we can use but it's a new one for me and I don't catch the principle behind it. somone give me some input here. 2004 Chevy Pickup Keyless Entry - Page 2 -- posted image.

o.k. i remember when i had this problem. it was when a 04 cadillac escalade came in for a autopage 750. i remember did not have any info for a 04 so i did what i would normaly do to the 03 but i could not find any door lock trigers. i tried everything i could think of but still nothing! so it left the shop with everything but door locks. i told the customer to come back in a couple of days so i could find some info on the vehicle. what i found is that not only is the data buss totaly necessary but that it makes the install alot easier because it controls the factory disarm/arm, domelight servailance, door trigger and will flash parking lights(only good if no remote start is installed) i sugest useing the dei modual, i think 456G

I believe this is what all this code was trying to say. Hey 12volt, any idea why this happens sometimes. I've seen this a few times while reading different posts. Are people copy and pasting from another document program with the codes still intact?
There's no one in this exciting town that sells DEI products (this place sux). The guy has this: (copied from the webpage)
    http://www.sylves.com/audiovox/audiovoxalmnp.pdf
ACCESSORY GM DATABUS DOOR WIRE TRIGGER INTERFACE. The AS-GMDTI Interface module connects to the Class 11 Data Bus wire, (OBD2), of the vehicle and detects the vehicle’s door condition (open or closed) information. Certain Buick Oldsmobile and Cadillac use the on board data bus instead of a common door trigger wire. Because of this, installation in these vehicles require the removal of door panels and running wires to each vehicle door. The AS-GMDTI allows you to pick the door open data information from the vehicles bus, connect to the alarms negative door trigger input wire and your done. No additional labor is required to remove panels or run trigger wires throughout the vehicle. Think this will work? I think it has 4 wires on it: red 12v, black ground, brown (negative unlock output from brain??), and purple (databus trigger wire).

    Hey tj,
If you don't have a data module, then there is a way to do doorlocks on the GM 800 platforms but it's a lot of work. Ever do two relay reversal in a Jeep Grand Cherokee? Same idea.
You have to go into the doors - that's right BOTH DOORS.
Find and cut the actuator wires - a TAN and a GRAY.
Put the TAN from the switch through a diode with band side to pin 86 of a relay.
The TAN from the actuator to pin 30.
87A and 85 both to ground.
The positive unlock output from the aftermarket system goes through a diode with band side to pin 86 of a relay.
Repeat the same for the GRAY wire.
Repeat two relay setup in other door, stand back and watch the sparks fly!
Just kidding! 2004 Chevy Pickup Keyless Entry - Page 2 -- posted image.

Sounds simple enough. So this will work with a 2004 Chevy (w/o factory keyless), eh? We aren’t doing a full fledge alarm, just an Audiovox/Prestige Keyless entry system. I am thinking the Audiovox interface for the door locks that he has already will work. I will find out Saturday when I do it.

Wish I had some luck with my PAC question in the car audio forum. Look at it if you will and let me know if you can help.
