There's like a thousand amps available right now in your home town for under 300 bucks.  And many times that over the internet.  But, what you're really wanting to know is what brands to look for and what to avoid, I'll bet.  I'll give you one that's hard to find but worth the search:  USacoustics amps.  And one that is usually right around that price range you might want to steer clear of:  Audiobahn.  And there are several other low quality amps to avoid, as well.  A search through Ebay will reveal most of them.

But, your best bet for some good help in getting what you're looking for is to give up some info to the forum...like what is your goal, for one?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

it all depends on how much power ur looking for and what ur trying to run.....I looked around online for a month to find an amp that could run 4-12's and finally I came across a the boss powerdrive series amps......I gotta 3000 watt amp that was bridgeable and 1/2 ohm stable from sonic electronix for 249 dollars shipped and it had enough power that it was blowing rods in 2002 series kicker comp vrs with the gain at only 1/2 on 4 of them......it all depends on what ur looking for.......the boss riot and powerdrive series amps are pretty good......I don't know about the rest though

I gotta 3000 watt amp<--- probably more like 500watts
and it had enough power that it was blowing rods in 2002 series kicker comp vrs with the gain at only 1/2 on 4 of them<----and I have never seen a sub that has "RODS"
Frankly if a amp is blowing anything it is either junk, or someone has set it up wrong.
What are you trying to run and we can point you in the RIGHT direction.

jeffchilcott........... just to let you know while u know that was what I was told from someone who worked with a&s installation in PA, kustom worx in canton, and team pressurized.....i was told that the rods were going when they started making a noise and weren't hitting right any more.......and just to let you know that amp is well over 500 watts since u think u know everything.....before the subs started going they were all slamming and hitting hard as hell........when is the last time u seen a 500 watt amp slam 4 kicker comp vrs..........here is how it is ran since u think it is ran wrong........I have a 200 amp motor city reman performance alternater running 2 batteries including the yellowtop in my trunk with 0/1 guage soundquest wire a 200 amp circuit breaker with the amp bridged pushing 3000watts or pretty damn close @ 4ohms........tell me does it sound like its not ran right to you oh and the specs on the box is 1.25 cubic ft. per sub at 5 cubic ft. for the box and it is a 1/2 octagon sealed.........just so u know

just so u know it is possible to blow subs if the amp is too much for them.......just like u can fry an amp if the subs are too much for it.........

also the amp retails for 450 dollars normally I checked it at a local car stereo shop after I bought it.......not telling u to that boss is the best thing out there just telling u that for the price it is alot better than people think.......there older amps were garbage but they have improved......crossfire and us acoustics are both good if u can find em for cheap......or if u look hard enough u might even find someone gettin rid of a small u.s. amp on ebay for cheap u just gotta look

I am assuming your Boss amps is a Power drive PD3000?
The amp that have 100amps worth of fusing.   hmmmm lets do the math
14.4volts x 100amps = 1440watts MAX   considering this is a very high quality amp, which even you said it wasnt.     it might be at the top with amps that are 90% efficent
That brings you to 1296 Watts Max...so either The Sicentists have been wrong for years and OHM's Law is all out of wack,   or this is the best designed amp ever.
Im am very sorry I know nothing about Car audio, Please if you would come and run my shop for me.   I feel like a complete moron for going to school for a year studying electronics and theroys of AC/DC current.
I will be sure to look for subs containing rods as well, they must be the kind with a small combustion engine inside to add the bass. Funny that Kicker dosent list ROD's on there diagram for the sub.
Anyways All I am trying to do is recommend an amp that will produce the power that is says it will, but you have taken care of that already. Myself and the rest of the Main members of this site will gladly let you share your wisdom further and we will just step away
