Not sure if your Focus is similar to U.S. domestic models but...

If your after-market keyless entry system outputs a standard (-) .8 second
lock / unlock pulse and your Focus came with Factory power locks, you
should be able to connect the after-market systems wires directly to
these wires shown below.  No need to go into the doors, just remove the
drivers kick panel and locate these wires in the harness coming in from
the door.

Power Lock            BLACK/ red  (-)             @ drivers kick panel

Power Unlock        BLACK / YELLOW  (-)        @ drivers kick panel

You can test these wires with a Digital Multi Meter.  Set to 20V DC,

connect the Red lead to +12V constant and the Black lead to the suspect
wire. The meter should show +12v when the lock / unlock signal is present.

Soldering is fun!

It's a Euro spec with deadlocking.
You have one colour wrong, yellow/orange might be yellow/black.
Now perform these two tests and ignore the driver's door.
1) See if all the doors lock/unlock from the key in both driver and front passenger door.
2) Shut all the doors, see if you can lock/unlock them using the lock push under the inner door catch.
If neither work you have a faulty GEM box but there is a work around.
First you were testing incorrectly.
Go to the GEM module above the throttle pedal.
Shut all the other doors and then look at the GEM module, it will have either two or four plugs.
In the far right should be the BLACK/ orange lock wire and the next plug in should have the BLACK/ green.
Also in the loom from the driver's door.
Strip both then close the latch on the driver's door. You should be able to work the lock and unlock from that locking button on the door.
If so with the lock catch still thrown over ground the BLACK/ orange to lock then the BLACK/ green to unlock.
If that works problem solved.
If not here's the work around.
You should have 6 lock wires on that K/E system. Let me know the colours and I'll show you how to do the work around.
Meanwhile I'll work out some diagrams and post them.
Don't work from the door, work from the GEM module.
I know I'm right I've done a gaszillion of these!
Hell I even wrote the DEI sheet for the Mondeo! Next model up with the same GEM box.
To deadlock open the "thick" yellow at the GEM module with a relay.

First diagram including deadlock if the testing works out OK
Note on both diagrams 12V+ supply is from orange / YELLOW (test, this is all from memory) at the GEM box.
Also if indicators are needed use the + blue and blue/red wires in the middle of the GEM box. ford_no1.bmp
Note I've also given you the trunk release, BLACK / YELLOW at switch going to GEM box.
In this diagram, if your K/E is a 2 wire please use the 3 diodes, else there's a chance you will fry the K/E.
If it's a 6 wire, give us the list of wires and what each are for and you will then only need 1 relay.
The work around:- ford_work_around.bmp

Sorry, just realised forget the deadlock, as you said "big yellow wire, no pin in lock".
For your knowledge, all Euro Fords till 07
Yellow/black = lock motor wire.
WHITE/ black or WHITE/ orange = unlock motor wire.
Yellow = deadlock motor wire.
The other thin wires are connected to door trigger and total (comfort) close on Ghia models.

No pictures, if you must just the GEM showing the plugs.
Just do what I said and don't question it I've done literally hundreds of them.
Also you don't need to take the door down, just the glove box, 4 pozi screws underneath, plus 2 or 3 plastic screws for the lower trim, test as I said and once there you have a 10 minute job.
Disregard my earlier post about above the throttle I was thinking UK spec, right hand drive! That box in 2000 was in the same position for left AND right hand drive cars, all the Euro cars were either Spanish or German.

Erratum:-
I made a mistake before, forgot yours was left hand drive.
Close all doors bar the front passenger so you can get to the GEM.
Remember you MUST latch over the catch at the back of the door, flick on the ignition and the dome light will go out, remove key and it should stay off.
If you don't latch over that catch the locks will not work which I think was your original mistake.
