All of those features are disabled while you're driving, but they come back as soon as you stop. You can also trick it momentarily while driving by cycling the toggle switch. That works for about 2 seconds each time.

Here's what I want to know: I get the nag screen that the system has detected an improper parking brake connection as soon as I start my car, before I'm even moving. How does it know? I'm wondering if it's looking for more than a simple ground on the park brake lead, and will do some experimenting this weekend.

Having those features disabled while driving is simply a joke. I paid 1800.00 for this thing and I can't even use it to display my carputer whern I'm in motion, someone should freaking file a lawsuit against Pinoeer. It's YOUR box, you should be able to do with it as you see fit.

Regardless, Navigation didn't work with on my N1 with the 60west disc at all. Didn't even have the option to search for an address.

I was able to compress the East disc using WinRAR, into 103 pieces. I did a succesfull test post this morning to alt.binaries.test of one piece. I plan on doing a full post later tonightModding Avic-N1/N2 Nav DVD’s - Page 34 -- posted image.

You probably BURNED DIsc wrong ... usually PRoblem is inside IDX FOLDER ... if this file inside that folder ARSSR200.IDX its corupted or burned wrong your DISC won't work right ... see that's what I'm talking about ALL this trouble to download and DISC doesn't even work right ...

I burned the ISO, there is no way it wasn't right, it's the same one everyone else is using, plus who cares about new maps and stuff when you can't use the DVD or A/V input when driving. That's simply retarded.

I think the whole idea behind this forum is to determine how to "crack" the software provided by Pioneer, not sell what you've got...

The East disc finished posting yesterday afternoon to alt.binaries.test

The only thing I screwed up was using Forte Agent to post it. It ended up splitting my post into 10505 sections. However, once all the headers are loaded in Agent, it's easy to sort them by title, then highlight all of my post. Assuming all the sections are in the correct order, all you do is right click and select "Join Sections". This will automatically merge all 10505 pieces together into one large piece for downloading.

Farther back in the forum, someone was going to take apart their N1 to see if the board had the same solder points as the N2. Did that ever happen? If not, I'm feeling adventerous!

wow!  I just got done reading all 36 pages of this thread, and I have to say that I like where this is going!  (Even tho it has gotten sidetracked a few times!)  I have an N1, and I was interested in getting upgraded software, but I won't because of the lock out.  Has anyone successfully determined the difference between the code on the N1/2/3 and the X1 (the lockout portion) ?  I am not sure if someone has already mentioned it (I just read waaaay to much to take in at once!) but wouldn't it make sense to change a few lines of text,  to bypass the lockout

for instance, if a line of code resembled this:

if moving=true{

                      show.lockout  //not the exact code, but you get the idea

}

why can't it be edited to always be false? i.e. :

if moving=false{

                         if moving=true{

                         show.lockout

                         }

}

or why can't that line be deleted all together?

instead of replacing files with others, why can't the file be edited?

another idea is to see why the N1 only checks for a grouned parking brake, and incorporate that into the 50/60 software.

anyone play around with this?

maybe I am talkin out my ass, it happens sometimes!  but I do have some computer knowledge, I was a software engineer major for a while until I realized that it was waaaay to stressful to do for the rest of my life.  I only did coding for 2 years or so, and I wanted to blow up every computer I saw!  That was like 4 years ago tho...Now I just check my email, and use forums like this! cuz coding for hours makes homer something something...  go crazy? don't mind if I do!

?  Also, I might be upgrading to the N3 sometime soon, but I wanna keep my warranty, and the little sticker you can peel on the N3 now says "void" so i would like to bypass it with software so i can just revert back to the old software if I need warranty work.

OK, just a bit of an update here...

The firmware of the europe version is not the answer to this problem. It was loaded on a N1 and still had the video locked out. Now the problem on my end is trying to figure out how to disassemble the firmware since it appears that it is not encrypted nor compressed. I have tried IDA Pro but no luck. Hex editing the firmware was also tried but the files are protected by an embedded crc check.  Wrecklesswun has purchased a N2 to trace out against his N1 so we can see where the resistor mod is on the N1 board. Should just be an address pin pulled high/low. I feel the N1 should be almost identical to the X1 in hardware however there might be an eeprom or different address settings that set the lockout. What we need is someone who has done some embedded programming.  High res photos of any avic-N (any version) would be great as well.
