that "black wire" you are talking about does not need to be hooked up ... it only needs to be hooked up if you have engine noise ... if you dont need it hooked up which i dont think you do in your appliclation then you will get distorted sound and may be what you are hearing .... those GM factory radios are hella powerfull so make sure you are trimming the signal back enough or your amp is gonna sound bad
