2005 honda accord, stolen valet key

My valet key for 2005 Honda Accord was stolen.  To make my car fully secure, Honda says it has to replace the locks and keys and reprogram.  Total cost $1100.00  There must be some othern less expensive way.  I know they can just reprogram but thet still allows the stolen key to open the car door (though not start it, they say).

do you know who stole it, do you think they might know you?  I would imagine the probability of the key finding it's way back into your specific car is pretty low. 

Although rekeying would be the only way to make sure that the stolen key will not open the doors to your car, you could add an aftermarket alarm and keyless entry.  That way if the key is used to open the door you'll at least have a way of knowing.

Otter again.  Further to my plea for ideas about the keying on my Honda Accord.  The breakin occured in my driveway so it would be easy for the thief to find his/her way back.

Picking up a used key-set from the wreckers might be the cheapest way, and have it reprogrammed then.

Talk to a locksmith too, maybe the cylinders can be rekeyed?
